Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: Question for you Ford guys
« on: September 05, 2019, 09:38:11 PM »
If that truck is equally as straight all the way around as shown on the driver's side, then somebody wants it. In the very least, take a few pictures and put them on Craigslist, under "Cars and Trucks," as "1977 Ranchero come and get it." I'd hate to see that vehicle go to the junk yard or scrapper. Frankly I think it's worth a some money, and will likely increase in value over the next few years

Any year 429/460 engine from the entire production run (1968-1996) is a fine candidate for a hot boat engine build. How you approach the build might depend on the year of the engine. For a pump gas jet boat engine to about 500 hp, a 1968-1987 is best suited because you can use the factory iron heads. (1988-1996 460s have FI heads and would usually get replaced anyway.)
It's in good condition . I've had it on craigslist but no real bites .

Thanks for all the info . So I've been reading from your guys information and the fifth number on the vin is an "S" . This is a California car and it ran when parked just a few years ago . So thanks very much for the info .. I guess I need to do some better research.

Are you asking about what casting numbers you want to see on the engine rather than the ahh numbers? Do you know if itís a 385 series, either a 429 or a 460 cubic inch motor, only difference between the two is the crank if I recall correctly.
Yes . I was just wondering where I could identify what it actually is before pulling it . Or I'll just junk it with the car . It came with my house ...lol and wife wants it gone .

Projects / Re: Has anyone heard of Jet Craft
« on: January 22, 2019, 10:10:27 PM »
First of all welcome to the madness! I am no pro but by the looks of the work in the pump and transom plate and cave plates ..there's quite a bit of worth right there . Not to mention the duel axcel trailer. I wish I had something like that in my high school shop class !!! The pros will be along shortly and I 100% bet almost everyone here would be more happy to help you and your class make your project a show piece.

While I am doing some maintenance I took my carb off to freshen it up . I need some advice and/or opinions.  I removed the choke . I don't think I need it . Mabey I do not really sure . My question is what do I do with the hole that the choke arm went through the carb housing ? Can I leave it open or should I close it some how ?

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Steering cable stiffness
« on: June 21, 2017, 05:19:14 PM »
Just a question here . I bought a new telafax rack and pinion a few years back . The boat has sat a few years because of lakes being low in my area . Now I'm using it agin and the steering is super stiff . So is there a way to lube or get the stiffness out for the season or should I just buy another new one . I would think they should last more than 4 years . I already took it out and tryd to spray some lube in but it's still stiff. Thanks any help is greatly appreciated.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Exhaust hose option
« on: April 11, 2017, 05:00:32 PM »
I have logs and snails and bought new hoses I think 3 1/2 or 3 5/8 but have always had trouble getting them to fit right . So I looked at cp performance and they only sale 3 1/2 or 4 " . I already wasted the money on the wrong size hose no big deal . But my question is do I go with the 4 " hose or is there a better option.  I'm kind of concerned that the 4 " will be to big . The tips are plastic so not sure if I should go solid pipe or just stay with the rubber hose . Thanks in advance for any help or input .

Let me just say ... this was my experience and not that it would be evryone s.  But let me tell you I was # 6 from california that day for the same reason. Although they were charged for Oz rather than a gram . And most of them were kids . I am 40 years old and been through the system a few times when I was younger. I have not been in trouble for over 20 years

This could be good or bad.

I'm sure you know what I mean.

GT
Yes I know .
I was taught to tell the truth and sometimes it bites me in the ass.
But I was forthcoming with them and they could not believe what happen . They said if the state troppers  are going to profile California plated cars they own that they do not want there cars traveling thru that part of Texas.  And there corporate office is based in Texas ... go figure.

What rental car company?  There aren't many that allow there cars to cross state lines.

Being a rental car,  there may be a way to establish the car was not your personal property,  therefore not in your possession at all times.

Planted evidence or otherwise.

Good luck man,  that totally blows.
And we have contacted the rental company and have told them the complete story. They contacted the police department and that's how I know that they changed me with the mystery green lollipop. The head of security of avis has informed us that the corporate attorneys are getting involved.

My bad, it read like you took some weed & hash. Who's car are you in? I'm not giving you shit, simply stating the obvious. I had a card for many years until it screwed my life insurance renewal, classified as full smoker for taking 1 hit at night to sleep instead of harsh drugs. Have to wait a year now.

I'm strongly for using weed for medical or recreational purposes. Nobody ever smoked a bowl and went home to beat the shit out of their wife. If you go back to when it began in the 50's some government asshole was about to lose funding so he made up a bunch of lies to get funding to go after marijuana.

Now it's our asshole elected officials who keep it classified the same as heroin.

Again Good Luck with the outcome. I personally have been to Texas a couple of times and have zero interest in going back or through now that you have informed us of how they do things there.
it's all good ...I just wanted to clarify.
I will get this taken care of when I return to California. But right now I'm trying to take care of my uncles estate and that most important right now .
This site is my discussion forum and like I said I was hesitant to post here...but I thought that I would inform my SCJB Internet friends about my experience
Brad ... if you do not want this discussion on your site please remove or lock this thred.
I completely understand.
