Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: Marine cam vs street cam

Iím being told I need to switch to adjustable valve train on my 460. Do I really need to do that?? I donít have a machine shop here to do that. Might as well buy new heads that cost a lot.

Ok thanks for the advice, I will def install a marine kit. The engine will be mostly stock with over the transom headers. I just need it to run good, donít need to break any speed records yet. My son and I are building it, be some good time spent together.

I know the street cam kit are about $200 cheaper than the marine cam kits. I donít plan on going crazy with horse power. Will a street cam kit work or do I really need the Marine kit. Wanting to put one in a bbf 460. All stock engine and plan on running headers with edelbrock 750 carb.

Jet Pumps / Re: ride plate adjustment for bigger roost question

That's the input I needed, thanks for the insight. Now I need to find some good used parts to install a split bowl and rooster booster.

Jet Pumps / ride plate adjustment for bigger roost question
« on: May 19, 2015, 05:00:14 PM »
I have a Berkeley 12 JE pump on my boat with a newly installed type place diverter. Since mine is a one piece bowl I cannot add a droop snout or rooster booster for a taller roost. Here is my theory, if I adjust my ride plate down a little so it pushes the front of the boat down will that in theory angle the diverter up more. Does that sound rite? Right now my ride plate is about level with the boat, if I adjust it downward will that push the front down and in turn angle the place diverter in a more upswept position for a taller roost?

I have heard of people grinding the diverter so it angles up more but haven't heard if it works or not.

What are the advantages of an msd over and HEI ingnition? Right now I have an hei set up on my chevy 454 with vacuum advance. It was that way when I bought the boat. It runs good but don't know if I should spend the extra coin for and msd setup and what the advantages are.

Damn for some reason I cant see the pics on post #2, I can see yours on #20. Nice, is that what mine will look like?

Its not a spit bowl, wish it was.

Did a search and found this thread, does anyone got any pics of how far to grind on a Berkeley 12je place diverter for a higher roost. I just installed mine and haven't tried it yet but was reading on here that if you grind on the housing you can get a better angle to shoot the roost higher. Been raining here so I cant try the new diverter out yet.

Not sure, would like to know and if it does what is needed to make it all fit. Im sure once I get it installed and get use to the roost I will be happy, just wanna be like you big fella's. lol

Does anyone know if the place diverter kit that I will be installing on my Je pump can it be machined a little to give it more of an angle for a bigger roost? Sorry for all the questions but my 9 year old son and I have been working on this boat all winter and he is actually the one who dug up all the videos and pictures of the cool roosts that you guys shoot and he is bound and determined to make ours do that. Im sure its going to be fine the way it is but why not give it a try if it wont cost an arm and leg. Thought about maybe a different bowl that is split that will bolt on but not sure if its an option. So would like to know if machining the one I have will give me more an angle for a roost.

Well that sucks, just my luck I get a boat with a pump like that. Oh well hope 10 degrees will get me a cool roost, sure wish I could shoot one like Ive seen in the pics and videos. .

did the same exact thing on the diverter. You can almost make the bucket arm bottom out on the diverter arm. Lol can't do much now, locked out 👎👎

What do you mean by locked out, pivot too far?

I machined the beveled edge off the back of the nozzle where it pivots. Bet I gained another 2 foot in height

Maybe I can do that with my place diverter when I get it, I will see if I can figure out what you are talking about.

Here was my roost with a lil small block. And manual diverters are just fine all depends on how you set up the cable adjustment. Just have fun with it and don't don't spray to many seadoos. 😂

Did your boat have the je pump on it. Cool roost.

It should be here next Tuesday, I will get some pics of it with a  roost.

How big of a roost will I get with the JE pump with the place diverter on it?

Jet Pumps / What to expect with place diverter on a Berkeley JE pump
« on: April 29, 2015, 08:19:35 PM »
I have a 79 sleekcraft rebel with a mild 454 BBC engine. It has a Berkeley JE pump and I have ordered a manual place diverter for it. Cant wait till it gets here. Can someone tell me what to expect as far a roost goes, I know there for making the boat go faster but I think the roost is cool as hell and want to shoot a big one if its possible. Don't know if mine has the split bowl thing or not or even if what it is. Not new to boating just new to this jet boat thing. Thanks in advance.

Engines / Engine Parts For Sale / 454 Headers for sale
« on: October 23, 2014, 05:21:02 AM »
I have a set of headers that came with my sleekcraft when I bought it. They don't have a manufacture name on them. They have the stainless style bell ends and the rest of the headers are painted with the ceramic black paint. NO cracks, dents or rust. Do not come with water lines. $225 shipped to your door as long as your in the lower 48. These came off of a 454 BBC.

The plug wires, do these go on an hei distributor and will they go under my twist style basset headers? I want a clean look and am wanting them to be long enough to go under the headers. Thanks
