Events / 2016 Horsepower Fest - Picture Thread
« on: November 15, 2016, 03:26:55 PM »
I don't even know where to begin....I am beyond speechless.

I have come to the conclusion that this event was a major success. With only having 3 months to plan our first event like this, I think Brittney and I pulled off an event that was exceptional and fun for all. I have been blown up with texts, emails, phone calls, etc from people who were there as well as people who weren't there that heard about how it was. Thank you all for the love and support!

Thanks to everyone who lend a hand and helped set up, run stuff, and tear down at the end of the day. Thanks to the photographers who supplied the pictures posted below. Thanks to the Avi for hosting this awesome event. Thanks to our sponsors (Battery Connection, Taylor Performance & Marine, Bostick Racing Engines, BJ Manufacturing, and Nikki Kincaid Insurance!). Thank you to all the vendors who came out! Thanks to Metal Mulisha and Fitz Army for putting on an amazing show. Thanks to everyone who donated toward the raffle.

And here are the pics! This first set is from Miyuki (Instagram @miyukik2) which is Chad krieger's Wife.

The Second set is from Chromey, our resident pirate photographer

Projects / Crazy Eights Resurrection 2016
« on: September 07, 2016, 08:51:58 AM »
Well, its been a long time coming....and things are coming together quickly. I get asked constantly "whats up with the crazy eights??"

As of right now its sitting on the side of my house gutted, dirty, and looking very sad - but not for long.

I have a Dyno date set at Westech this coming Monday the 12th to dyno the motor that Bostick has been building for some time now. If all goes well, I will be bringing it back home with me. The motor plates are being water jetted this week by Wes Morgan. The pump is at B1 being gone through. I hope to pick it up while I am in town for the BayFair the weekend of the 16th. I also dropped off the seats yesterday evening to get upholstered.

This weekend's goal is I have some fiberglass work to do, get the new motor rails in and rig the throttle and stack gas tanks. Basically have everything ready, so I can just bolt up the pump and drop in the motor.

The goal is to have it at the Southwind Regatta in 3 weeks.

The No Wake Zone / We're back!
« on: May 06, 2016, 06:45:18 PM »
Its been a very stressful past few days. The server crashed around 3am wednesday morning that hosts my VPS along with a dozen or so other customers of the hosting company. Everyone's VPS was spared except ours. There was times where I thought I had lost all 10 years of posts, pictures, memories, etc of I have backups of the site, but they are just stored on the server. I had no offline backups. I will be doing offline backups from now on just in case!

Thanks for all the messages of concern and everyones patience and understanding!

« on: May 03, 2016, 09:13:03 PM »
So I have some good news, but unfortunately it's too short of a notice to pull off at this Avi event.

This year booking and organizing the events at the Avi have been such a breeze compared to previous years. I have been dealing with a new sales manager and she's very on top of things and willing to work with us to make these events bigger, better and more accommodating. One of the huge requests I pitched today actually went much better than I thought. Porta-pottys in the boat parking lot. They said at the August event, they will rent them for us and put them out there for us to use. For those of you who have been going to the Avi for some time with SCJB know how huge this is!

Everything else for this event is falling into place nicely. We picked up a sponsor called Michelada Love. They make a bloody mary type mix to mix with your beer to make those popular red beers. A bottle will be put into each room at the hotel that was booked under the group rate.

Also, Brett from SpeedBoat Magazine who is their editor and also puts together the section 'Brett's Cove' will be coming to the event go cover it. In the past he sent out Kenny to shoot the event and Brett would write the article, but he wants to come out and experience the event first hand. This is Brett's first SCJB event so please make him welcome.

And of course, this goes without saying, please drive safe and mindful of the people around you. No drinking and driving will be tolerated. The beach is still open to the public so there will be non-jetboat people there. Please respect them and their space.

I'm looking forward to another amazing weekend at the Avi with all my SCJB peeps!

We got promotional support from Michelada Love. They are an all natural mixer to put in your beer to make a Michelada aka Red Beer. A free bottle will be placed in all rooms that are booked under the group rate. Group rate code expires tomorrow (wednesday april 27th) at midnight so book right away.

Also, there was a fire at the hotel yesterday. It was only storage shed, but the fire was caused by fireworks. That being said, even though they sell fireworks in the gas station, there is no fireworks allowed in the parking lot. There is a designated area on the north side of the hotel - opposite side to where the boat parking is. Because of this recent fire, there will be a zero tolerance for fireworks. You will be banned from the hotel.

Also, wristbands will be required to be on the beach. Make sure you get yours when you check in. For those of you who aren't staying at the hotel, but are planning on hanging out at the beach - come find me. I will have extras on me.

So where is everyone hanging out at want to meet some new people but don't seem very active we are at the casino but don't recognize anyone

The No Wake Zone / April Fools 2016
« on: April 02, 2016, 10:02:54 AM »
It's harder and harder each year to think of something creative enough to do on April Fools and to get everyone to bite. I had 2 targets this year, and I got them booth - good!

Yes, the $10,000 purse and the mandatory attendance to all SCJB events was a joke, but be assured, the Top 10 list is no joke.

So a couple of weeks ago I got a text from Art Saenz's wife. She said since Dennis and Jim (the current #1 and #2 on the list) weren't going to the first event this year in Parker next weekend and going to Bike Week in Phoenix instead, she suggested for April Fools day, I change Rule #3 so it states you must attend all SCJB events, rather than just 2 events. This was a great start to a good idea, but it needed more. So with that idea, I added in the anonymous sponsor of the $10,000 purse to really twist their arm if they don't show up. I had Jake in on it and used him as the supplier of the said sponsor just to throw a little bit more of a belief into it all. I had to do my research as well to name drop the production company of Street Outlaws. So this was a few days in the making.

Here is the thread that was created on SCJB:$10-000-purse!/

Here is the post that was created on IG, then shared to FB and the SCJB FB Group:

It was shared by @hotboat_usa, @jetboat_memes, and @rivercrimes on Instagram. It got 14 Shares on Facebook with 2,210 people reached. The Instagram tag of @riveroutlawz is actually legit. I kinda threw that in there last minute. That is going to be the instagram page for this top 10 list. Also, a website is in the works ( coming soon!)

From the time I dropped the news on SCJB, FB, and IG, it was 12 minutes until I got this text from Jim Penner:

Following that, 23 minutes after the post I got a call from Dennis - who had totally fallen for it, but Jim told him it was an April fools joke. Dennis said he went through a ton of emotions, including anger and sadness lol.

So at this point, it was mission accomplished. Both of them freaked out because they knew they were off the list due to going to Bike Week next weekend and not the first event in Parker, which would make them ineligible for the list.

But why stop there? Jim and Dennis agreed to play along for the rest of the day and see how much commotion we could stir up in the boating community over this. As I am sure a lot of you noticed, I was on top of this thing most of the day deleting any posts where anyone would even suggest it was April fools day - just to keep it interesting. What was funny is that there was a lot of people who thought they were the only wise one who caught it as an April fools joke because all other posts suggesting it was April fools joke were removed. It was disappointing how many people, even though they knew it was a joke, were so eager and quick to spoil the fun for everyone else. It's April fools - let the fools be fooled! This has been the case every year. It's not just on my posts - it was on every April Fools joke I came across on the internet. So, maybe next year we should all keep that in mind and just play along!

I did get one text that was pretty epic. If you read between the lines so to speak - it's a total jab back at me for the April Fools joke - Good one on you Pat!

And this one from Bostick was pretty good too.

And if you are curious - here are some of the past April Fools jokes I have done over the years..

In 2010, I said the site was being sued for using unlicensed code and was being shut down - and I actually shut the site down!

One year I turned the entire front page backwards, took a few of you awhile to even notice it.

This one was tough on the eyes. This was back in 2007. I turned the entire site pink, with this header image. It upset quite a few people as you can imagine.

Not many caught this one last year, but I made JetBoatsPlus a banner advertiser. This was the banner. (They were raided by the police and arrested for being a chop shop in Havasu)

SCJB Top 10 List / SCJB Top 10 List $10,000 Purse!
« on: April 01, 2016, 10:59:59 AM »
This has been a few days in the making, but I am excited to announce there is a $10,000 purse at stake for the SCJB Top 10 List!

Jake Yeager was approached by a large company that wants to see this top 10 list take off. Unfortunately, due to obvious liability issues, they need to remain anonymous. We are extremely grateful for their $10,000 donation towards a purse for the Top 3 contestants. We are hoping this helps promote enough exposure to get this picked up by Pilgrim Studios which is the production company for Street Outlaws, Ultimate Fighter, Fast 'n Loud, etc.

This being said, this will be changing a major rule in the top 10 list. You MUST attend all SCJB events for the year and you MUST bring the boat you intend on using to compete in the top 10 list.

Please direct any questions or comments to myself. Please be patient as details are still evolving.

SCJB Top 10 List / SCJB Top 10 List Rules
« on: March 06, 2016, 07:43:53 AM »
Rule #1: Have fun. The purpose of the SCJB Top 10 list is to have fun. If at any point fun has been lost, then the purpose of the Top 10 list has been lost.

Rule #2: These rules have been written loosely for reasons defined in Rule #1. If at any point these rules are stretched, bent, or taken out of context, Rule #1 has been broken.

Rule #3: The participating Driver and Boat must attend Two (2) SCJB Official Events. Said Driver and Boat don't necessarily have to compete in the SCJB Top 10 List at said events.

Rule #4 All call-outs must be done publicly in the SCJB Top 10 board via a new thread on in the SCJB Top 10 Board.

Rule #5 Challenger can only call-out 1 position above their current position. Challenger and defender must schedule race within the 3 following weekends. If defending spot cannot fulfill this requirement, spot will be forfeited. If challenger is unable to fulfill challenge within required time, call-out is canceled.

Rule #6 Race takes place at spot agreed upon by both challenger and defender. The defender has priority over challenger on determining spot. Races do not have to take place at SCJB Events.

Rule #7 Race length is to be 800 feet and from a dig.

Rule #8 If any participant changes their hull at any time, they must restart from the bottom of the list.

Rule #9 All races are to be coordinated in a safe manner. No racing 3 wide, in rough or crowded water, or beyond the boat or drives capabilities. Any races deemed unsafe by the committee will be disqualified and possibly banned from further participation. Intoxicated driving will not be tolerated. Also, wear a lifeline or some sort of life jacket, ya big dummy!

Rule #10 Jet driven boats only.

Rule #11 Rules can only be contested, challenged, or questioned by the party or parties directly impacted. No outside finger pointing allowed. If you aren't on the list, than keep your nose out of it.

Rule #12 See Rule #1

**Any revisions, changes, additions, or deletions to the rules will be noted below in the replies to this thread.

Awesome time! Met a ton of new SCJB members, people who follow our Instagram and Facebook as well! For those of you were able to make it, thank you all for coming by the booth and introducing yourself. Again, like last year, I was flooded with so much love and traffic at the booth, I didn't get to see any of the show. Huge thanks to the Yeager crew for bringing their boat out to be displayed in the booth. And always, huge thanks to my girlfriend Brittney. Many of you don't get to see the behind the scenes of to what it takes to make all this happen and she has been a huge help in the days and weeks leading up to this event. I honestly can't be grateful enough! She's a keeper for sure! See you all again in April!
