The idea to go up there is because of the large gathering of jet/v-drive boats that happens on NYD and Fathers Day.

I dont mind doing something at elsinor in the near future as well.

Damn looks like your project is coming along pretty fast.

yeah, but its coming to a screeching halt due to lack of funds....need to somehow come up with $3500 for gelcoat so we can proceed.

yeah, theres minor stuff we can do in the mean time, but that will just take away the from the savings fund for the gel coat.

well, heres the updated pictures of the work I did on friday...the hull is bare except the intake...which has become a complete pain in the ass to remove....the screws are epoxy'd in from the bottom of the hull and I have to use a small chissle to expose the head of the screw...then back them out 1/4 of a turn at a time using a screw driver with a square shaft while putting a cresent wrench on the shaft to turn it....

by the time I am done getting all 18 screws out, my forarms will be bigger the popeye's.

heres where I started for the day with the transom....

and heres some pictures of the boat in the garage....then i rolled it out for some daylight pictures...

and now heres some pictures of after I detail cut the rest of the transom edges out with a dremmel and removed the passanger side gas tank (which came out a LOT easier then the driver side).....the passanger side gas tank was in bad shape as well...there was signs of leakage due to the filler neck being broken, just as it was on the driver side.  :-[

and heres the boat hangin out in the garage after i cleaned up and organized everything to be a bit more managable in the small space I have.

Could you please explain the Karma system to me?

its a way for people to keep eachother in check...if you have positive karma, it shows you are respectful and try to help people out.......if you have negative, you've pissed off some people.

you can vote once every 30 minutes and you can vote after you have at least 20 posts.

someone has already given you positive karma  :)

Gelcoat / Paint / Fireberglass Repair / Re: Need Paint/Gelcoat
« on: December 04, 2006, 01:39:36 PM »
I have gone in and talked to the guys over at Ultra Custom Boats and they are more then helpful with any questions and their shop foreman was going to re do some stuff for a friend of mine and he said that it was the cheapest he found anywere. And since it is Ultra you no they aren't gonna screw it up!   They are located in Alpine ,CA or it might show up as Lakeside.

thanks for the suggestion  :)

on a side note....when talking to sal and mentioning that the boat has metal flake....he mentioned that 'back in the day' the metal flake had a type of wax on it that causes the gel coat to flake/crack over time....thus why this gel coat looks like crap.....and they use a type of primer/sealer over the old stuff before laying down the new coat. This guy really sounded like he knew what he was talking about and had really investigated this old known issue.

I will talk to the guys over at ultra to see if they have any insight to this as well.

Gelcoat / Paint / Fireberglass Repair / Re: Need Paint/Gelcoat

I was talking to a guy out at Martinez who does gel coat and I think he was talking about multi-colored gel coats for around $3500. I saw a boat that he did years ago and it still looks awesome. I can probably get his number if your interested.

I just got a quote from Sal over at Orange County Boat Repair....he said anywhere between $3,500 and $4,200 ...this guy came very highly recomended. I think I will be going with this option once the funds are available.

I was reading after doing a search of some free software that was to allow me to surf...firewall free thru a remote isp[home] on my work pc...lol  they blocked the downloads...

what you can do is set up a vnc session (www.realvnc.com) to remote to your home computer. this does require you to map the appropriate ports and such.

The problem I ran into is that the default VNC port 5900 was blocked here at work, so I ran it out the telnet port of 22.

I will soon have to find a new way to do this because they are installing a IPS that will detect VNC traffic going through the telnet port and block it.

I wish there was a way around websense completely......would make my day go by much faster.... ;D

you could use an external proxy....but your admin is able to block that as well via websense.

I submitted a req to websense.... i will let you know what becomes of it.

This is what websense is telling me:

URL:
 http://www.socaljetboats.com

Category:
This site is not categorized by Websense

Database version:
 92680

Database date:
 04 Dec 2006

Product used:
 Websense Enterprise? v6.2

I wonder if your place of work doesnt allow you to browse sites that arent categorized...?

I have set up websense in a few work environments and this is very possible.

Just for reference....hb.com is "Lingerie and Swimsuit" ... but hb.net is "Vehicles"

I will submit a req to websense to put me in a proper category before they randomly pick one.  ::)
