www.cpperformance.com should have what you need. Quick shipping and a good selection.

20-50 with a high zinc content. Most modern oil doesn't have enough zinc needed for flat tappet cams. This is what I use.

The No Wake Zone / Re: What do you guys think of this Daycruiser?
« on: July 19, 2017, 08:33:03 AM »
Personally I'd keep looking.
The Olds / Jacuzzi combo alone would have me walking away and on top of that Fantasy was not known as a high quality boat.
In the future, the resale value isn't there. $4500.00 is a lot for that setup.
Just my opinion.

Agreed, if you are looking for a day cruiser this looks like a better option:

Are these widely used? I haven't seen much about them and also am running a relatively low powered boat. Look forward to hearing how it turns out.

Getting her ready for a day at the shop to get her fired off for the first time since I added a few new goodies. Should be at Elsinore on Sunday for the first test run.

How much resistance are you talking? I have a pretty heavy spring at the carb and also the spring inside my pedal, I actually just went to a lighter spring on my carb because after a long drive my calf was burning lol. I can push my pedal with 2 fingers as to before I had to actually push hard.

Sounds like I am in your same spot before you changed out your carb spring. I'm thinking I am going to cut down the spring in my pedal to see if that helps, or remove it all together... Just wanted to get a read on what everyone else is doing with their setups.

Anyone have any insight?

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Throttle Return Springs & Pedal
« on: May 30, 2017, 12:19:52 PM »
I've been changing quite a few things up on my new boat and wanted to see what you guys are running in regards to return springs. My foot pedal has a return spring within (goes on the outside of the cable and runs all the way to the cable end). My new throttle cable bracket also has dual return springs which is making for quite a bit of resistance. The throttle cable bracket is about as loose as I can go without it having no tension at close. Should I remove the return spring within the pedal?  Pics attached for reference.

Note: The last picture was when I was mocking things up before the cable was connected to the foot pedal, the return spring adjuster is now almost all the way forward as noted in the second picture.

Pay no attention to the rats nest of spark plug wires those will be sorted out once I time the boat.

Jet Pumps / Re: Berkeley Thrust Bearing Over Greased
« on: May 25, 2017, 07:21:36 AM »
Don't worry about overgreasing it.  It's good to flush moisture out of the bearing after each trip.  Yes, it makes a mess, but it's better than losing a thrust bearing, followed by an impeller, suction housing, and crankshaft.
Thank you! I'm just going to throw some tape over that hole for the first run and will reassess after that.

Going to try and hit Elsinore on Monday morning for the first shake down run in the new float. Not really wanting to do it on a holiday but my time is limited so will probably give it a shot. What will be the quietest launch ramp first thing in the morning, if any? Weekend Paradise maybe?

Jet Pumps / Berkeley Thrust Bearing Over Greased
« on: May 22, 2017, 03:24:44 PM »
Took a look through the inspection hole in front of the thrust bearing on my Berkeley jet and there appears to be quite a bit of grease visible....almost as if it has been over greased. Should I be concerned? If so, what is the easiest way to clean it up to make sure its not over greased?

Welcome to the board and congrats on the new float. Prepare to spend a lot of money on parts you never knew you needed.
