GT - Can you PM me a picture / diagram of that setup. I like the off idle idea. Just want to be clear on hose routing.

- Yes I stated this was a wet setup, he said to add what I had in disks and run it again, look at plug color/disks and add more from there if necessary. The tech basically wanted to reiterate that it was better to start rich then to jump straight to a full lean setup. This is a 4.8" disk so I'm assuming that's 5"???

When you say Bassett valve setup are you referring to a separate water line/gate valve to exhaust independent of engine water intake? Or are you talking changing the actual valves at the heads?

Roadrunner - Thank you for the confirmation, I did use a mirror to better inspect and found the small pin size hole. There is also a larger hole behind it closer to manifold but I don't believe water was dripping from that one. I will run lines into bilge to redirect.

GT - The Cam Grind # is 293H

The actual disks were 11 each side. I had spares that came with boat so I disassembled the traps and cleaned up/added 4 more disks to each end (15 each for now).

I called Supertrapp and spoke to a tech who advised against the 20-30 disks but agreed I needed more since my disks were dark/black indicating a rich running engine. He also stated that springs were "30 year old way" and they do not have springs on any of their systems now and do not sale the parts. Their reasoning was that the disks will not crush unless super heated and under extreme load and that the springs made for a less reliable system that would cause rotation and misalignment of disks on my system since it is a center bolt type setup. I will run the boat again and read color of plugs & disks to fine tune (looking for golden brown).

Wide open throttle temp was under 150 probably between 125 - 150. If you look at attached photo of my temp gauge you will see it's hard to read below 150, when I was at WOT a few times last week the gauge would drop to about the 125 mark. Cruising was 150-160. I am going to tap in a mechanical water gauge at my thermostat housing.

Where do I intersect the the water lines to install a dump line setup per your suggestion above???! Should I tee off of each lines from the thermostat housing before they lines dump to the exhaust?

Thank you GT I may PM you later when I get back to boat to confirm disk number and elaborate more on setup.

Flusher - calling the guy I bought the boat off of today to see if he change breaking oil from first fire, engine only has 12 hours on it now. I was told to run it closer to 17-20 hours before changing. I really hope he flushed it after fire up and initial seat. That would be a bad move!

Still has break in oil, no moisture at all.

Yes it has super traps/spark arrested, I think around 6-8 disks but I will count on Monday and give you exact. No separate water dump from engine.

Has a gate valve, no thermostat.
In Parker last weekend it ran around 150-160 when cruising 3000-4000 rpm. 190 - 200 when idling after running but that temp would drop a bit after a few min of idle. I have the temp dialed in pretty good IMO.

The drip was constant at idle and cruising, probably increased drop while cruising but I couldn't monitor that.

Had to find an old pic not at storage. It's located on the bottom of over transom pipes just after the logs.

See photo for reference, is this just a small bleed drain for the exhaust? It was dripping water pretty much all weekend while running and it's messing up my carpet.. only drips on the port side exhaust. If so I am going to run a small hose from it into the bilge.

Got in late and hopped on my friends boat! Weather is great! Get here people! More to come tomorrow!

^^^Nice dolly!^^^ you should rent that thing out this winter! Pay it off.

My day started thinking I was all set to go this weekend until I decided to unwrap the stereo/amp wiring and inspect the old speakers behind the grills.. I was shocked and ashamed at the amount of garbage wiring for a simple stereo setup. 6 hours later it's all perfect, removed all old wire & cheap crimp connections, replaced with marine feeders, military soldered all connections and replaced the speakers.
Left the old Clarion tape deck & amp since they're perfect and IMO pretty cool. I think I'm going to start making mix tapes for the river haha!

Headed out at 6am tomorrow!

*Update* After my fist run I can tell you there is no way this boat did 60mph at 4K rpm. I used Speed Box phone MPH app and got it to 58mph flooring it for around 4 seconds straight (from around 35 - 40mph). I didn't want to overwork the new motor so I wasn't to hard on it. It was full of fuel (24 gal), my lady, cooler and normal safety gear. I did this several times over the course of an hour and could not hit 60. 57-58 was tops. I asked my girl to get out of the boat and I almost got slapped (hahaha). I know the boat will hit 60 if I lighten her up but let's face it, this boat is a small family jet made for cheap thrills and a reliable day on the water and that's exactly what I wanted. As I posted before, it handled the chop and smooth amazingly. See you guys in Parker this weekend!

Full trailerable "semi custom" cover just came in, need to make sure it fits. Replaced the broken Mallory ceramic plug wire, adjusted, greased and tinkered with throttle linkage, installed 12v plug, cleaned cleaned and cleaned. And added a small first aid kit. I'm done and ready to meet you guys at Parker!

Sweet, congrats on a good first run, that lake is very "hit and miss" I've been out and it's glass and I've been out and taken white caps over the bow, it gets ugly up there quick, was my go to spot for quite a while but after how bad it was the last trip I'll stick with Elsinore or the river👌🏼

Yeah it got windy and choppy but nothing to big. We anchored out in the cove to the North East and relaxed a bit. Overall it was a nice day but I won't go there again, to small for me. Parker, Elsinore, Big River, Laughlin and Havasu are next on my list!

Hit Silverwood Lake up on Saturday instead of Elsinore (thanks for the heads up people). Did my first trip in the Tahiti since I bought her. Still breaking in the rebuilt 460 (9 hours now) but got it up to 58mph according to the phone app. Did about 10 laps on the lake and pulled up to the launch ramp right when the Sheriff was dropping their boat in. Probably a good time for me to leave at that point. Boat ran solid and the hull was very stable with no porpoising or noticeable handling issues. Should be a good summer! See you all at Parker this weekend!

That was a joke.. I run that in my street bike, way to expensive for a 4-5k rpm engine. I would run a 10-30 valvoline semi syn. That's my plan once my 460 has enough hours on it for its first oil change. Only at 9 since the rebuild.
