I would keep the kona. Better hull that the other one for sure. The colors on it are way more nice. I think you'll be more happy with the kona in the long run bud.

Like I said accelerator pump

Sent from my SGH-T999 using SoCalJetBoats mobile app
I would also check out the needle and seat. If they are dirty it can hold the floats open and poor fuel in the intake.

Updated Name List. Hotel and reservation list.
Almost at 30 boats   :D

3500 for that is a good deal. Not too many of the v-bottoms were layed up with full stringers. Mine had 1/4 stringers. Btw. The v-bottoms are 18 foots. The tunnels are the 19's

 keep up the good work, it's getting there. Seeing other people doing glass work right know helps keep me moving along on my floor, it sucks but i'm not alone...
Thanks bud. Glass work sucks, but it's not that bad. Keep going. You'll be stoked when you're done and you can say you did it your self.

Well then the fun part started. Glass. I used 4 layers of 2 oz CSM for this

After all that work I got the new front bulkhead in and primered and blocked down the stringers. Also got the floors nice and flat and shiny

Got the new balsa and stringers mocked.

I scratched up the floor with 36 gritt again and layed down a layer of 2 oz CSM on either side. Then layed the balsa on it and put resin on top.
Dont do that hahah. found that out later i should have done that after it cured. But then i put wax paper down on top and put weight down on the balsa.

After i made a quick jig to keep the stringers in place. The stringers i am using are Kiln dried douglas fur 1X4s about 14 1/2 long.
once i squared up everything and got it where i wanted, sanded the floor down with 36 where i was going to put glass. then I wetted out some 2 oz strips and set them down on the wet glass. Then put as much weight as i could on it.

So Here i am again. tearing into my SWTD once again.
Last summer i ran it really hard knowing the stringers were soft.(bad idea on my part)
I could feel the boat kinda twist out of the hull when i punched it. Plus i could move them from side to side pretty good. AND found cracks along the stringers. So after tom Papp i decided to get to work and replace them.
Also i figured wile i was at it i would put a low pro and do a few other things i couldn't last spring.
Big thanks to TRG, todd for helping me out with this project.
Here we go.

After striping the boat down i took a skill saw to the stringers and bulkheads.

Figured this had something to do with the twisting and what not

Heres what caused it

35 year old firewood and glass

Took a power planer to the wood and blocked it down with 36 grit

Lol I was just giving you a hard time. I'm to broke to even consider taking the boat out. Wife's maternity leave ran out and she quit her job before she went back. 1 income, 2 kids, a wife and house payment.......makes my back hurt thinking about it

haha okay. sometimes it hard to read people on the internet. lol
Well hopefully things turn around for ya bud.
Would love to see that thing out there.

Corey, You're more than welcome bud. From what i remember, i think kona bottom is the same or close to a southwind.

* All Boats Are Welcome*

I've been throwing around the idea of having a Southwind get together on the Colorado river for some time now. Since all the talk about another regatta has been going around. Though I would throw it out there and see if anybody would bite.
I figured since the upper Blythe has the cp deal and lower yuma area has the power tour. Why not have it in the middle? Location: Lower Blythe, CA . Between McIntyre and Riviera, Drop off Beach / sandbar. Its right outside of goose flats to the South.
Date: September 21st, 2013
Working with the manager at McIntyre to get a lower launch fee/ camping rate for regatta guests.
There are also motels in town....
Also Riviera has camping as well.

Awards will be given for Best 18, Formula 1 T-deck, 19 Tunnel, 20 Cruiser and longest haul

McIntyre 760-922-8205
