if you're going to redo the stringers my only suggestion would be to change the points where your dolly is supporting the hull.  you want it on the very back corners and the bow eye or else when you cut em out the pressure in the middle/forward will put a hook into the bottom of the hull and when you glass in the new stringers it'll be stuck there forever.  just a fyi.

I would probably finish the inside so that way once its painted your not having to jump in and out doing a bunch of floor repairs..  Have the inside all done that way when its painted it time for final assembly.

You are supposed to lay the balsa with the scrim facing up and sand the scrim off after it has been fiberglassed down to the hull.

that boat is very thin. The balsa will help stiffen it up. The balsa itself is not heavy at all maybe 4 lbs. but it does soak up a lot of resin. I would say it would add maybe 25lbs to the whole layup of the boat.

You guy's are doing a fine job on this boat, looking forward to seeing it show up on the river.  Maybe we'll take a putt down to Mac over the 4th and say hi.

Hey Steve, now it makes a little more sense.  Your dad was telling me about your boat, and I was watching your build, but didn't put the two together.  He said you guy's were going to be at Mac for the 4th.  Not sure if I'm going to take the Ultra down on the 4th, too many idiots trying to "thin the heard".  I have a POS day cruiser I'll be cruising around in.  Now I have more reasons to cruise south and hang out.  Definitely would like to get with you and your dad  on a quieter weekend and make a few hot laps in my hot rod.
Sorry for the thread jack Carrera202, I'll  be quiet now.  By the way, awesome work on your boat!

You shoulda seen mine, I stacked every scrap piece if granite slab pieces, that I had left over from varrious jobs, along with blocks. Them babies were infused to the hull!
I love the balsa floors. Was going to do vanier floors in the Kona. Ever tried laying that much glass, in the Vegas heat? No bueno!

Looking good, nice checker plate. Make sure you round that edge all the way around with some 120 grit and keep the edge about 1/8-1/4 inch back from the edge of the step. Stuff sharp, I found out the hard way on my old trailer.

Well we have had a little more progress on this, it's slow goin for sure especially for all being a first for me. Trailer has been converted to a dolly now with a swing away, bottom is moving but now time to set the intake.

Just a dumb question, I have seen others go this route, what is the reasoning? Better for garage storing?

To be honest I believe it is intended for hauling in a box trailer for the width, I could be wrong I personally did it for storage in my garage was the main reason.

Yes, exactly so it will fit in an enclosed trailer
