found a charger jet boat like mine on craigs list right here in MN.!!! 300.00  bought it over the phone, the boat has a 360 amc engine thats junk. not sure about the pump but looks like a panther? what do you guys think about an amc  401?  or just BBC it. how bought panther pumps, any good, parts avalability?? just couldn't pass it up.

be different! go with the AMC 390 or 401. There are many new performance parts available for them now. most intresting being the Edelbrock heads availble for them. if you could find an old crossram super stock manifold the engine would look awesome. just a thought.

I am under the impression that charger splashed the southwind bottom (maybe the top as well) which is a great bottom . I would look into swapping it over the a berkley pump though . It would be very beneficial as far as bolt on performance upgrades go . I'll get ahold of my buddy 78cole who did this very thing to his cole along with some other stuff and picked up 8-10 mph . This was a pump swap alone , no motor work if I remember correctly. From what I've read , the panther is a good pump to a certain point . Top end performance is not there strong point .  I heard good things about those pumps in cruisers where RPM and speed is kept down . But I'm no guru.

Yank the AMC and install the BBC. You are going to have enough handicaps with the Panther pump, you don't need an engine one as well.

Hey Cheap Boat
Check the bottom of that hull and be sure that some quarter miler didnt take all the hook out of it to make it quicker.
We have 2 Chargers in our WINGNUT REGATTA GROUP that have undergone that process and they are really fast but dont turn
worth a dam. But hey I dont know where you are haeded with the project. Just a little F.Y.I.
                                       GOOD LUCK  Cobra18 466

you wouldn't believe the holes in this boat !!!!!!!! it even had a 2 foot high wing in the back with an oil cooler in it that blew off on the trip home LOL.  I may just sell it or part it out and use the cash for engine mods on my boat :)

Oh I rather be futzen with the jet boat, but 1/2 my income comes from MN. winters. so unless I win the lotto or find a new profession I'm stuck here....... we do have great summers. plus I can go 5 or less miles in any direction from my home and be on a lake.
