Sam's Scorpion Project
« on: September 08, 2011, 01:43:37 PM »
WTB tunnel hull pickle fork project ( minus motor )!!! 19 daytona preferably .. Just thought id throw this out there and see if anybody has any leads..

I was going to build the 78 hondo hydro pickle that i have.. but after some research im finding out that its pretty much a  "garage door with huge motor strapped to it"  :banghead:....  so id rather put my money and time into something that can hit tripple digits and be somewhat safe  >:D

so far the best deal i found is a 84 eliminator daytona, all ready to go minus motor for 8500 ..

Sam, there's one on performance boats less engine for $8,000. or best offer and it states he needs to sell it.
First page about halfway down, dated 9-1-11.
It has / had a blown alcohol motor in it, it does'nt state the weight of the hull but it does have a pop off.

My sister got the hondo... ^ ^

Little progress pic on the scorpion..

Time to strip the layers and layers and layers of paint off this thing.. All of the pin stripping around the flames is actually thin 8th inch masking tape ( blue striping tape ) and they just cleared over it all hahah.. Pounds and pounds of paint are coming off this thing haha..

BYE BYE YELLOW GREEN AND ORANGE  :)

Paint and gel is stripped, theres a nice layer of poly primer that was under it all!!

So now its time to block away.. Fix chips, gouges, low spots and Re prime

Next up is going to be flipping this beast over... Any ideas ? tips, pros cons.. ? ?

A block-head's idea: flip it first and comlete bottom completely paint and all, then flip only have to flip one more time 'fore it sees water.
