WTB: Marine Mallory for a 460 Ford
« on: January 19, 2012, 06:32:25 AM »
Does anyone have a marine Mallory or Pertronix dizzy setup laying around that they want to unload?   I could certainly use one.  Lemme know what you got.

Thanks Gord.  I'm still shaking the bushes hoping to find something I can get Monday at the latest.  If I can't get it by then you may just be my next play.

Oh and seeing as how you are all out of Elk, venison would work too.  Just send em both in a bigger box.

Got a message after work from my mechanic.  He says I have one cylinder that is running 30 psi less than the other 7.  He hasn't gone any deeper yet but I'm thinking that that distributor may have to wait.   If this is going to turn expensive I'm just going to put together the other boat.   This boat stuff is getting incredibly depressing.   :banghead:

That is a very kind offer and I will keep the dizzy in mind.  It is just that I now have a complete motor to install in the other boat.  Once the motor is out the soft floor will have to be addressed.  I'm sure that will snowball into something more than I know now.  If I am going to have to pull a head (or more) to fix the Spectra it probably isn't worth the time investment since I am so deep already into getting the Wriedt back out on the water.
I really want to like the Spectra but what started out as a good deal moneywise, that would need very little to take out on the lake and use for a season or two while I built a big motor for the Wriedt, has turned out to be very expensive.  I am in nearly $4000 and I have made one lap around Lake Perris so far in nearly 3 years.

The one cylinder that is down 30 psi could just be something stick in the valve seat. Take off the valve cover and whack the intake and the exhaust valves a couple times with a mallet or dead blow. If that don't work try spinning the valve and see if that helps before you go tearing anything apart.

Usualy crap in toilets and throw shit paper in trash cans. Hang out at the boat ramp like its a swimming hole. Have zero insurance on anything they own and dont give two shits less about your property."

Alright I'm done crying in my beers.  I can't scare up a distributor anywhere else so PM me your info Gord and we'll get this thing done.  Heads coming off this weekend just to see what's what.  Some things on this motor point to a real Harman Marine and some don't so I want to find out exactly what I am working with and what kind of condition it is in inside.
I blame you all for pimping a Meet & Drink on my birthday.  I figure the least I could do is show up with a running boat.  Wish me and my wallet good luck .  .  .  .
