Newest member right here.  Been lurking for pretty much all of 07.  Decided to finally sign up.  Not sure if I am aloud here being from Norcal. ;)
But I love boats, especially jets and v-drives.  Unfortunately I cant say that I have a boat right now which is just sad.  Summer is wasting away and I cant even get off the shore.  Weak!
Anyway, this site is cool, I really enjoy checking out the pics and as I filter through sarcasm the insight on boats in general is good.

 Hello all
Iv'e been lurking around here for a while now and I guess it's time I started to speak up. My boat is a 77 18 ft Lancer (I know, nobody ever heard of it),it looks like a Tahiti but built like crap !! 460/jacuzzi yj (yuck) . Ive had it almost 5 yrs now. Sorry no pics, I hate to even look at it let alone take pics ! I had to have the motor done twice because someone didn't cleanout the oil passeges the first time(pumped metal shavings through the motor  >:( next trip out it spun the front bearing in the jet,had it fixed, next trip same thing this time at the back of the lake and water was flowing into the boat through the bearing  :o(assembled wrong) . Fixed it myself after that, no more problems . Next trip no problems ;D, or so I thought, got home and the boat was still dripping water so I look under it and what do I see , a BIG ASS CRACK IN THE HULL :'( :'( :'( !! So I gave up on this boat/pile of sh#@!!!! And bought the 21 ft Eliminator Daytona in the project boat section with the idea of useing my 460 and a Berkeley jc pump that I have sitting in my garage. So what do you all think of this plan or should I stick with the big ugly outboard ?

Any ideas of what would be needed to convert it , was the hull the same ? It has realy small stringers, only about 1.5 inches tall  :o .

I am not sure , maybe you should drag it to a performance boat shop and have them look at it. While you are there you can probably sell the out board to cover the cost or maybe trade  it for work done. Those stringers sound kinda small to put a big block in.
