You can not tell me there is not a market for
our style of water hot rods?
Is there no boat builder willing to dabble in the
high performance 'sexy' low profile
water skimming squirters we all love?
So my question is .., where have the Barron,
Eliminator, Sanger, Cougar, Kachina etc, etc molds
all gone??
We have such a great group of pioneer jet boat
builders/mechanics/salesman/racers etc, etc.
Please chime in and discuss why these boats
are not a viable product in these times ..  ??

ahh yes, I see your point clearly.

The Hallett Mini Cruiser mold was destroyed by Hallett (I asked Jerry Barron at Desert Storm a couple years ago). The Rogers 18 and 19 are still around. Advantage has the 18 and GSM supposedly knows who has the 19. Bill has the CP 18 and 19. GSM has the TPR 19/21 and the and the Daytona 19. Peterson has the PC 19. I am sure if looked hard enough you could find others like the Southwind. The last time I saw the Southwind 18 it was at Cobra.

I think Advantage builds a couple a year of the 18. Here is the last one Perterson finished up. I can't imagine the money in this one.

My $.02 about the making 18 and 19' boats. The EPA and CARB have made it very difficult for manufacturers to produce these boats. There are less than a handful of engine packages and fuel tanks/systems approved by CARB for use in these boats. They all have catalytic converters and thru-hull exhaust. In addition to being ugly they're also very expensive.

Boats in that size range also need to have foam floatation under the deck which would ruin the clean look of any beautiful new boat.

The only way around it is a special construction HIN. That's why most of the new builds of smaller jets are basically race boats. No one can actually produce them.

I'd love for a resurgence of new, turnkey, affordable, 20' and under jet boats. However, it's unlikely. Most manufacturers don't touch anything under 21'. Eliminator basically stopped making their V-bottoms.

Eliminator recently did a 21' Daytona, less engine. I believe Teague did the engine and final rigging. Big blower motor if I remember right.

I couldn't imagine the price tag on that one.

Here on Scjb, there was an ad for a complete tunnel hull, 7 color gel coat, for $9k? It's been a while, prices have probably gone up. This is/was a new hull. Still needs everything else, engine, pump, interior, and  even a trailer.

There is new boats to be had, but you gotta search for them.
