Aquaholic72,

I'm literally in the same boat with you, I'm big in the street racing scene. I love Chevrolet, because they are cheap to fix and cost less to make them faster. To me fords aren't all there. Moving forward this is my first boat too, it has a 454 BBC in it. Over the winter I will be doing some mods to the powerplant.

throw enough money at something and even a honda can be fast...

id love to see boats using the coyote 5.0 motors.  damn things are 400hp and 600hp+ with easy mods.  ford even makes a swap kit with a ECU, etc for $1500 to get one running out of the box.

I like the one running at the end of the weekend.  It all depends who built it and what budget was used to build it.

That 300 cube coyote motor is heavier than a 454 or 460, and ONLY 400 hp??? 600 hp at what, 7500+ rpm???...useless in a jet...Might as well have that Honda...
My 383 SBC is 365 lbs and 475+ hp, with a Holley.

For VALUE, a 460 would be better, Just sayin'

Funny you bring this up, GS Marine has a Daytona/TP with one of these being rigged right now.  Should be interesting to see what numbers it puts up, I believe it's going to be full race rig.

I'm a Chevy guy but getting into boats I found that the 460 Ford has the most potential to build power with stock components.  They are also probably the most expensive engine to build since the market is not flooded with parts like with GM.  I dig the uniqueness that comes with having the Ford but with my budget getting tighter the Chevy is looking better every day. There is a lot of good info on Paul Kane's site www.highflowdynamics.com that will enlighten the Chevy guys a bit.

Omar I'd like to set up a date with you and that big red ride of yours one day soon.  I need to do some research as I'm building mine, let me know if I can climb around and check her out.

Here is the thing that I have found out so far we both know that we are new to this scene.  I'm finding out that chevy is less expensive to build and there are more parts out there.  In the ford community ford's put out a lot of hp with little needing to be done to them and the parts that are out there are more expensive due to the demand in boats but that is just what I see from forums and what we both have tried to find but all I know is when my new Ford blows up I'm going with a BBC

If I did not buy my heads my motor build my Ford would have been around 3100 with ported and polished heads witch you can get them from Paul kane over at high flow he done for about what I paid for mine about 13 to 1500 my motors making 470 horse with 22cc dish pistons and a custom cam, manly push rods guide plates roller rockers runs like an ape I could be happier with this ford. Flat tops of would put me me well into the mid to high 500s.
