Amp and speaker box is all you need... Plug your phone into the amp done... Look on craigslist
-
Hook this up instead of running straight into the amp. Now you have a wireless audio source. Works great.

I've planned on doing this since the first winter I purchased my boat... Still need to get it all set up. I have an amp and 6x9's all ready to go. Even have a spare 12" sub I am debating installing also.
Like the idea of the Bluetooth set up though.

Can't I just run the speakers off a head unit?
-
You can. But unless you have already have a head unit installed, running it straight to the amp or through a eq will allow you to keep your dash untouched. Also a head unit doesn't put out a lot of power, 17 watts is about the highest (I know the box says a million). Under powered speakers blow much faster than speakers that have ample wattage due to distortion. What kind of speakers were you planning on running? Look at the RMS wattage of the speakers not the peak and match that to a amp again to the RMS per Channel or the other way around. Polk db series is what I run they are marine grade and the 6 1/2 are not too pricey. Just my two cents.

If you live in SoCal the best place by far is downtown LA. There is literally one whole street with both sides lined with stereo shops. Most of the items are last years stuff but great deals!! I picked up my Alpine head unit with Bluetooth, JL audio 6 channel amp and 3 pairs of infinity 3 way 6x9's and all the wire, antenna ect... For $400. The 6x9's at bestbuy were more than $400 for 3 pair. I will post the address if anyone is interested so you can map it.
It's down by the fashion district and its kinda like little TJ but the stuff is cheap and it works good. I can clearly hear my radio while at WOT and I still have money for gas. :)
