Put a CD player in my bew boat. Plays fine when I am in nuetral, however when I put it in drive it shuts off then comes off then shuts off, you get the picture. Any ideas?

its a new safety model so you dont get distracted singing while driving ;D

Vibration is the enemy with cd's
Could be a loose wire ? or a cheap deck.....

Kenwood deck, happens when Ipod is hooked up or cd is in. I tried running new ground and power direct to the battery. Plays in nuetral still. Place in drive and starts clipping.

stupid question DJ does the stereo keep its memory when it turns back on?
reason i ask is if it does then you know that your ground and constant hot "the yellow wire" are good to go...this is what i would like to think you are experiencing! your red wire which goes to an ignition source so the stereo turns on when you turn your key on is where your issue is coming from...i dont think you have a good connection on that wire!

Re routed power wire (red) and constant (yellow) straight to the battery and went with a new ground location. Same thing is still happening

might need heavier gauge for the long run...or the deck is shit! got another deck laying around?

My guess is lack of power. I would run a bigger gauge of wire for both the ground and the power.

Same question as Nordie asked before, does it keep its memory when it turns back on?
I'm thinking lack of power/voltage too. Does it only turn on and off at idle, or does it do it all the time when its in gear ?

I will try running heavier power wire and ground. It runs fine when the boat is off and is fine when it is fired and in neutral. However the minute I put it in drive it shuts off and then turns back on. sometimes it will play for 2 minutes sometimes for 10 seconds.

Check your voltage on the power wires and see if theres a difference between idle and in gear.Could be a alternator not putting out at idle.

hey bro thisll sound dumb, but my buddy and I were having the same issue on his pontoon boat, if we turned the stereo up above a certain level itdd cut out and come back on. We tried running a dedicated positive, and it helped a lil, but what ended up fixing it was when we ended up abandoning the stock like 20 gauge ground wire and ran a 12 gauge ground right to a bolt on the frame of the boat to the headunit and voila, works perfectly solved the prob. try that, run a wire directly from the positive on the battery to the head unit and see if that works, and if not try grounding it directly by using a larger gauge wire to the battery and which ever of the 2 fix the issue, run a dedicated wire and itll be good.

let me know if you find the problem...ive been chasing mine around for over a year. Head unit goes in and out sometimes and speakers cut out above level 18 on the HU. Amp has 4 gauge power wire and a capcitor and the head unit has dedicated power wires, but the sub (has its own amP) never quits

ran positive and negative direct from battery to the deck and it's all good now.
