ok i will move my post over here. so after some more research. i think i am going to mount 1 solo baric 15 on each side of my motor. i am going to have them facing down so that the bass has something to bounce off of. I am planning on following that up with 4 6x9s and 2 6.5s that should bring the highs on par with the lows. or i might just give up on the 6x9s and run 4 high power 6.5s i have not made up my mind yet. but i am guessing my boat will be loud.
i am still throwing around the idea of having the subs under my bow but that is the way i have my 12s set up right now and i dont really like it.

if your boat makes little waves from the vibrations.
The bass in my sons Mustang would bounce a quarter right off the sun roof. I can just guess
what that would do to a boat. ::)

I got 4 6.5 2 way clarion 2 boston acoistic componets and 4 6x9 2 are under the motor hatch and i need a better amps for the mids but not near enough for one solo barik bass in a custom ported box and it turned down use two 10 youll be happier just my 2.cents

My "skilled labor" friends that threw my truck keys into the lake have commited to installing a badass sound system in the Biesemeyer. Any suggestions as to what I should do? Sounds like an open checkbook to me, lol

i had tens in my boat. now i have 12s and the sound travels better. i dont know what the best set up in a boat is. but i am thinking 6x9s are not the way to go. i like the 7 and 8 inch component speakers and its your choice on subs. but it also seems like the more open you have your subs the better they sound.
i have mine under my closed bow and the bass is a little too much and distorted. my friend has an open bow and two 12s where your feet go on the driver and passenger side and that thing sounds amazing..

I put 2 15" Cerwin Vega's in my buddy's front of his boat,4 Pioneer 6.5" 3 ways and 4 Pioneer 6X9 3 ways.The amps total about 3200 watts.This thing sounds great.
My boat I HAD 2 Kicker L7 10's and 4 Pioneer 4 ways,2200 watts.I recently took out the subs(due to heavy rain flooding it) and put in a box with 3 MTX Sledgehammer 10's under the front of the hull.
For "loudness" use as many 2 or 3 ways you can fit, those will cut through the wind and the wattage going to them makes a big difference.

Sooooo speaker everywhere, and use amps galore and x-overs and seperate mids and tweets. Sounds good to me. Now my lil mexican friends have a shopping list. I think you know what that means, lol. (Lord I apologize..........)

IMO, save the money on components,takes up more room and in a open air envirionment, you wont miss the sound quality by going with a 2 or 3 way.Amps have built in hi/low crossovers too so you can cut the frequency to the "highs" and they dont distort when the bass is turned up for the subs.Being that most speakers get put by your feet, mount some tweeters up high if possible, really helps when cuising and the pipes are making thier own music
