Hey guys, I have a little problem I recently baught a 93 caliber 1 with a pretty good sound system however batt problems are comming into play  but cant help it, when the ladies are shaken at Havasu can anyone complain...

Any way I have a 10 yr old system that consists of two 5 1/2s two 6x9 and two Orion 15" subs under the closed bow powered by two 2,000 watt orion amps....MONSTER BASS  The problem is the battery gets worn down to nothing after a few hours of play, I have been using seperate batterys for sound and crank but, this is getting old switching between the two 

Anyone have any thoughts on how i can keep the system with maybe a cross charge switch or somthing??? any web posts for equip would be helpful!!! perhaps could it be that the 10yr old amps are pulling to much??? I dunno 

Being that I work for a battery company I might be able to give a little advice on this issue. just a few questions. How many batteries are you running for the stero only? what type of battery switch do you have? What is the amp output on your alternator? Biggest question of all, what brand of batteries are you using?

In my boat im running a dedicated battery for starting and 2 dedicated just to the stereo system. I have 4 6x9's and 2 10 inch subs, with 3 amps. My stereo batteries last me a good 8 hours before recharging is needed.

I think this is a recurring problem on the party barges as well, seen it asked before on here. So before I buy and build one, I would LOVE to hear what you are running!

Well, for a case of beer that might just be possible.

Im running a grp 31 AGM for my starting battery. For the stereo I have 2 grp 27 Optima deep cycles. I have an alternator thats putting out 120 amps. All this is being ran through a NOCO battery switch. The switch its self is always set on battery one, which is my starting battery. When its time to recharge my stereo batteries I put it on all and charge everything.
 in order to maintain good battery life and nominal usage you need to make sure your batteries are always fully charge prior to putting into storage. The best way to maintain them is to use a battery tender from deltran. I use a 6 amp tender for my stereo batteries and a Tender Jr for my starting battery.

That is correct for when your cruising the water after you have used your radio for awhile. If your stereo batteries are fully charged prior to hitting the water there is no need to keep charging them until its needed. Also, if you do it this way you never have to worry about accidently running all three batteries down and not having power to start up.
