I'm in the process of installing my budget system. Basically Kenwood head unit pioneer 6x9s in the bulk heads 5-1/2 on the side panels.
I have a crunch amp mounted under the rear seat powering a 12" kicker in a truck box that I was thinking of screwing it behind the back seat in the engine compartment
Let me know your thoughts on this
Good or bad

toss it under the deck instead. you'll benefit from all the space sound wise and the little bit of weight in the bow wouldnt hurt.

I've got to 10" kickers in the bow of my boat one on each side of the stringer. There up out of the way and people want to know where there at because you can see them. Just have to remember not to turn it up to loud and crack you gel coat. [attachimg=1]

Under the bow...firing forward to use all air space.

I also have to agree with forward facing subs. That's how I have my 2 8's set up and they're loud!

Pshhhh stereos belong in wake boats. Nothing better than the sound of a big block humming along at 3k

Update
I finished wiring up the amp and I ran some speaker wire to the 12" kicker. Although the truck box is garbage, I put it in the nose of the bow, facing forward, and facing backwards sounds good. I moved it up against the bulk head under the bow. Under the seat. And I tired in the engine compartment. Hate to say that it sounds soo much better behind the seat.
I have no problem making a custom box for it.
Please continue your feedback.

The sound of a big block is nice but sitting at your own sandbar with tunes is what I do more of all day.

I agree although I have a SBC still sounds nice
However I still want the option to be able to crank the tunes.
Everything is completely installed with the exception to the 1 12" sub that needs a home.
Going to try it under the rear bench seat and see how that sounds too
I plan to make a box to fit the exact location of the sub once I figure out it's permanent home.
