new to the sport of racing jet boats .

Not new to race boats but been away from it for many years , would like to learn more about jet boats and was wondering if any racers in the San Fernando Valley area have time to fill me in on these types of boats ? I have a drag car and help out on a alcohol funny car, been a machinist for 35 years . It appears to me that these jet boats are A LOT harder to set up and make work correctly . went to the races at Long Beach Marine Stadium last week and had a heck of a great time . Jet boat from AZ , big boat with a 514 Ford really ran well against the more conventional boats in the class . His boat looked to have a lot of innovative ideas , which is what caught my eye about the class .

I'm not sure that boat was as impressive as it was made to seem, but it was a really cool boat and turned well.

I was at Long Beach too. What a blast.

That being said, I'm not sure it's "difficult" to set up a boat to be competitive, but making them durable seems to me to be the challenge.

As an example, 8 boats started the race, there were 3 running hard by the end of the weekend and one was a rookie.

That's 50% attrition. Holy smokes (no pun intended).

The salt water is pretty tough on the jets. Have you ever been to Idaho or Ming? Long Beach is sort of by itself as far as venue.

Its good stuff... I'm pretty new at it and even after 1 blown motor, 1 broken hull and a high speed swim I'm hooked. Just mailed a deposit on my new hull. (GT, the old one is ready for you)
