I know you had a good time, but we're there any boats that didn't have problems this weekend?

Can anyone write a recap of the weekend for those who couldn't make it?
How was the facility? How was the water? What was the course like? Did the sprint boats run continuously or did they stop while the hydros ran? What CJs ran? Who won? How did everyone do? (bummer to hear that Todd broke his motor).
It keeps other guys interested to hear the details.

Hey Jack,

As I understand it. 6 boats were suppose to be there. 4 showed up, 1 boat from the Bay area and 1 from Phoenix didn't make it.
Terry hurt his boat in practice on Friday, so only 3 ran on Saturday. After the first race the 303 boat lost a cylinder. With only 2 boats left they called it a weekend.

Well, block and 1 head are done.  I dropped an exhaust valve.  Anyone got a long block sitting around or a pile of sponsorship dollars.

Jack,
The coarse was a bit short with 2 buoys at each end.  The launch was done by tractors, each with a long boom that hooked on to the boats and put them in over the beach (no ramp).  Not so good when the tide was out.  It worked better than I thought it would but slow.  Good thing there were not a lot of classes to launch.
As to the race, Mark and I flipped a coin for the lanes and I won the inside with Todd on the outside.  When the flag dropped Mark and I raced to the first turn with me holding a slight lead.  The water was rough and we both pussy footed through the turn.  Down the back stretch I was still slightly ahead but we both had to lift for more rough water.  Going into the turn I could not see Mark, but I cut it really tight and glanced off the exit buoy and headed for the next turn when I saw the flairs in the air...  From what the guys on the beach said, Mark was very close to me as I was exiting the turn and he was pushing hard to catch me when his boat spun out and pitched him overboard.  All was okay and the boat floated without going down.  Mark was beat up and sore but not injured.  Todd's motor blew at about the same time all this happened in turn 2.
So with all that excitement and only two boats left we decided to save the equipment for Parker...

Thanks for the report Shirl. I can picture it all in my head. Exciting, but over too quick. Glad to hear Mark is ok and his boat stayed up. We'll see you at Parker.

Bayfair is a memory... Blew up the motor.  Good news is that I pick up the new one this weekend. More compression, better heads and a new oil cooler.  Thanksgiving regatta looks like it's happening for me.
