Curious if any of the gang are going to haul to Burley this year? We have our campsite reserved and would love to meet up with anybody and maybe learn something in the process.........john
-
As of now were planning on it. Where did you make res., we haven't gotten that far yet.
-
That would be awesome! I emailed and sent in a check to the Burley Regatta Committee. At least that's what the website said to do. Hope we see you there.
-
its up in the air at this point if i will be there. i will know more later.
-
John are you camping there at the races?

Dude, right back at ya! ;)
John, where you guys stayin? we're thinking tent trailer or maybe motorhome...
-
im still trying to convince the lady on this one.
They give you $500 tow money....its about 1,200 miles round trip. i get about 14mpg to tow....gas is about $2.20/gallon...thats just under $200 for gas....then you figure entry, food, beers, hotel, etc....it makes it a REALLY cheap trip.
i just gotta convince ralph to roll along ;D
it was the best trip i went on last year, hands down. the drive sucks, but it was sooo worth it.
-
I am not afraid of the drive as much as my 26 year old motorhome, not that it wouldn't make it, just can't afford to break it right now, my Ford however got 22.5 MPG towing a tent trailer to Oregon last year and never missed a beat, it also holds 65 gallons now, so totally non issue.
Is there a good place to camp?, Given it's Idaho, I'm betting it's awsome...
Or would you opt for a hotel room, if available?
I just don't want to be camped too far away from the action or familiar strange faces ;D

so i got the OK from the misses.

Hot damn! Glad all you guys are coming. We made reservations for our trailer right there in space 44. With that said, like Ron, I sent a check over 2 weeks ago and still havent recieved confirmation.
Everyone that I've talked to says this is a must attend event so we're really excited. See you guys there........john
-
I just sent an email off to Mark Moyle asking him a bunch of questions, including about your camping payments which havent been confirmed yet. I will let you know what i hear.

im going to sit down with ralph this weekend and put the reality check in place to see if its possible to make this event without putting a serious rush on the build. either way im planning on going - racing or not.

She came thru for me.
Good luck Brad. Hope you guys can put together a great field. We're going to have our son and some of the rest of the NW gang along with us and see if we can generate some interest in this circle racing stuff up here. I think it's F'n cool~~~~~~

hey guys... i'm lookin to save a few bucks on this trip...anyone got any extra room in their camper or room for me to sleep?
at this point, it looks like it will just be me rollin solo getting there thursday night and leaving early monday morning.
-
:banghead: Crap Brad. If we still had our trailer we would have had plenty of room for you but Jan and I just got rid the trailer last weekend and bought a camper to downsize to something that we can tow the boat with.
Looking forward to seeing you guys in a week

Hope you can make it Glenn and Brad. Reading the trashtalking on the other site makes me think this will be something to see..... ;D
-
Terry Valore offered up the spare bed in his room, but theres now a possibility that Jen's nephew (16yo) might fly out a week early for the wedding and go to burley with me. if thats the case, we will get a room. thanks for the offer glenn...i will let you know within the next day or two.
-
We have a room at the Fairfield that we are not going to use if someone needs it. I will be cancelling it Friday
-
We're out.... The son-n-law just got laid off and we better save some money in case they need it. I don't know if we can transfer the camp site but we paid $50 bucks to reserve site 44 at the races and one of you are welcome to it if we can figure out how to transfer it.

Damn John, that blows, on another note, I may be doing a little job change, so my life may be getting intresting soon too..I don't know if I am going or not, starting a new job these days, especially leaving a job of 12 years, is new territory for me...
Sorry to hear about your SIL, what does he do? If I may ask...
-
It's okay Glenn, we're definately going next year.
Congrats on the new path. A person needs to do that once in a while. Though I've worked for the same place for 30 years, I've changed career paths many times. Best of luck.
Ed is a contractor at the local Navy submarine base. Sounds like the cutbacks have impacted all the "non-defense" type activities but they have told him they want him back ASAP which certainly makes him feel better. He's a good kid.
Take care and keep in touch.
Now back on topic.......

Well this is what I know! That 402 boat is running the fastest @ low 90's and is kicking ass! The 21 boat has gone through one engine during testing and is out of the race due to not being able to get the F**kin spare motor tunned in right and the Driver/owner of the boat is ready to pull the drain plug and leave it in the Snake! They still have an 8 boat feild with Lance,Toby and Glen fighting Bow to Bow to Bow! ;D
Thats all i got.

this made my stomach turn.... :-\ when will poor terry get a break.

Great News about Louis!,,,, CONGRATULATIONS!
Louis called me Thursday telling me how good it was running. Louis had completely rebuilt the boat. (that's why he was running his family boat at Parker). Apparently he had them covered by half a lap in the first heat race, and he went ahead and put a larger jet in the carb to be safe, but still had the power to control the race.
I did some work on that engine, although I did not build it from the ground up. Guess there are people questioning how big it is, but its well within the rules, didn't even spend any money porting the heads while they were off. They are actually an APBA spec head with all the castings in the runners still in place, same with the intake.
Good luck again tomorrow!

Thanks for the props Barry. Yes I was running very well today. Finished first in the heat and first in the main. The boat and engine were running very well. Still neeed to work on the set up a little there are some minor handeling issues that we need to tweek but will get them straightend out.
Lost the ride plate in the first heat , but thanks to Harold Bruce and Terry Volare and Glen Dillworth we managed to make a new one before the final and had the boat running back up front.
-
Way to go! That's showing 'em how to get it done.

Here is a photo shot by Mike Guardalabene yesterday, but just had a phone call from Louis, he won both the heat and the main again today, apparently just barely beating Lance in the main, getting in a little better turn than he did.

They had a fair start,, that was his lead by the first turn. Louis actually told me on the phone that he got pulled just a bit at the starting line. It is a BBC, under 500 cu in, no head or intake port work, single carb.
-
so what are the final results?

Fifth - Ron
Really not sure on these
Sixth - Toby Finished first race on sat/ spun twice during the second race DNF/ didn't run on sunday
Seventh - Mark Finished first race on sat/ broke in the sacond race/ didn't run on sunday
Terry, we missed you out there. I think everyone was looking forward to racing with and against you. You are a true gentleman and a great spokesman for the sport. A big thank you to both you and Harold for your help this weekend.
-
why didnt toby run on sunday? did he get hurt in one of the spins or did they call it quits because it wasnt handling well?
did anyone get heat by heat results so i can post them over on compjetracing.com?
-
Not sure what happen to Toby's ride.
He did win the shootout on friday. Boat looked like it was on rails.
Richard was driving Louis's boat and lost a fuel pump.
-
sooo....how did you like burley ron? was it everything you expected?
i was pretty much bummin through the weekend knowing how much fun i was missing out on.
i had to do the responsible thing and stay home....jen pushed me to go still, but i just decided to stay home and get ready for the big day.
-
Toby didn't run on Sunday because of oil pressure failure.
That is what Rodger Finny said.

We had a good time in Burley. The venue was spectacular, with grass right up to the river, organized pits, wide ramps and lots of fans. The best part of the whole deal were the kids/fans. We were signing their programs and t-shirts and they were so excited. It was cool.
Some of my wifes family live in the area and came out to watch. It was good to visit with them for a bit also. Next time we'll try to get up there a couple of days early and check out the sites.
-
OK guy's I have uploaded all of the pics that I and my friends took at Burley.
Here is the link. if there is anything any one wants let me know.

Tony, that little power slide or actually motors dying so the back end is coming around, was caused by me getting into Scotts roost. The camera got a little bit of the roost, I got soaked and the motor took a big gulp of water and tried to crap out on me. Totally my fault.
Vance put all 4 take offs from the ramp and then put all 4 starts together at the begining of the video. Then put a mix of all 4 races.
