Title: C/J 511 parker onboard video
Post by: desrtrat256 on May 18, 2009, 10:28:14 AM
With some very crude editing software and lack of computer skills on my part this is how it turned out! The camera is a little $160 deal you can buy at hobby people or most local motorcycle shops. It just suctions on push the button and go. Looks like Ron needs a little more side support in the seat but he wont give up the suspension seat. oh well. Enjoy

kyle, what software did you use? i have a TON of onboard footage that i cant edit....ive tried adobe premier and i just dont have the horsepower in the computer to use it.

Very cool vid.

Ron, I would think about a different seat.  Maybe something with some more side support!

ya think  ;)

Ron, I have the same seat as Lance....same guy made it...and I love it...even though i havent even used it yet :-\  but it wraps around you pretty good.....it was about $500 shipped. great investment. much better then the drag buckets i was using before. i got a nasty onboard video of me gettin pitched out of it.

Its just windows movie editor. I didnt even know it was on my computer til a few days ago. its pretty easy to use one you have it figured out. Im guessing if I spent some time and learned the program better, I could have alot better quality but I really cant sit in front of the computer that long.

Wasnt really sure about the music either. its really hard for me to have the patience to time the music to the video. Brad if you want to sent me your footage and some song selections ill put it together for you.

wow.....you have more patience then i have....i tried windows movie editor and rendered it pretty useless after just trying to chop up the clips into smaller pieces from the large files the camera makes.

Ya that was the crappiest part for sure. but about 12am and I couldnt sleep I needed to do something. its sad but it took me 4 hours to do that! but I should be faster and better next time. It was actually kinda relaxing now that its done. Send me your videos and pick some music and ill try and put something together for ya.

Ill call mastercraft this afternoon and see if they can make you a suspension seat that holds like a real circle track seat  ;)

Thanks for putting that together Kyle.
Two hands on the wheel, is that the way you guys drive.
Actually with the full suspention seat, which saves my back, at times it wants to tampoline me up. About 2/3 of the time I was holding the base of the seat and the other 1/3 I was driving with my right hand and holding on to the gunwale with my left. I told Terry how nice it handled and that I drove with one hand, I think he drives the same way. I just got poped because of the video. My theory is if im going to get pitched I dont want to take the helm with me. Besides im just a rookie getting seat time, what do I know. ::)

lol Thanks Hollywood, I think thats the shot about 1:55 into it. I caught a wake in the corner and almost spun. You can see me throw the wheel to the right. Never had so much fun.
Heres the way I look when im out on the course  :D  being half Japanese and all.

sorry to jack your thread ron, but to continue on with the theme of onboard video....heres one of me spinnin out

[gv=475,325]8845488636634615722[/gv]

not sure what i was thinkin crossin wakes to the inside through a turn.....my days of road racing got ahead of me i guess. good vid to learn from.

btw, that seat was one of the ones i got from Skip....good for lake/river...but have zero support on the sides to keep your ass in.

yea you kind of tried to square that corner off which isn't that good of an idea in a boat  :sly:

you probably knew it was going to go bad when you started bouncing, right before you spun huh?

sweet footage though  ;D

honestly, i think the last thing you want to do is hold on...ralph once told me to not even bother trying to hold on, its impossible....hes right....your instinct is to death grip the wheel, but i know now what hes referring to.

if the boat flips or something, i hope to god theres enough momentum in what ever the hell is going wrong to pitch me as far away as possible.

i actually didnt get hurt...not even really sore. i landed with my ass on the floor and my back against the gunnel....life vest took most of the impact

That vest and helmet have got plenty of miles on them just bouncing around inside a boat !  :D

Great vid Brad !

I dont mean to side track your thread any further Kyle BUT, at the long beach race, i had left all my gear in my boat to go lick my wounds.
After the races were over I went back to pack my shit up and all my gear was gone  ???
Immediatley
Everyone around was like  ???  >:(
It took about 10 minutes of racking my brain as what on earth could have happened to my stuff when, BINGO !
THAT JAGOFF BRAD MUST HAVE TAKEN IT !!!!!!   :D

Anytime for an SCJB memeber , anytime.
Remember , it needs to be recertified  ;)

you left out the part that you were 1/2 way to the beer garden and didnt notice until 5 beers later!  ;D

i was using terrys helmet and neck collar....those things are the most un-fukkin-believably uncomfortable thing ever.....helmet restraints are the way to go!

thanks again man!

ill get it re-certed for you in return for letting me put so many miles on it

Damn..........that video turns my crank.  I cannot wait to watch you guys in Burley.  With the punkass kids Sanger sitting in the shop, I'm so tempted to trade him you guys don't even wanna know.  That video makes it that much worse (though I don't think I like Brads dealio   :-\)

Thanks Ralph, too dumb to be scared. I've been careful and SO FAR everything has been very predictable. Even when I got crossed up in the corner, I knew going in it was a little rough, so no surprise when the back wanted to pass the front.
The spins make great footage and Brad almost pulled it off.
Nice work on the video guys. Ron, you make it look easy.
Lance,I'm sure the extra 10mph you and Nick are running makes a huge difference.

I have a full blown chubby for this style racing now. Ive done 110 mph in 3 ft whoops in the middle of mexico and done every stupid thing possible in the dirt and it doesnt even compare to how fun this looks. Once I get back on my feet ($$$) ill have a flat deck rogers in the garage. Im really hoping to test next season and race the following. Just need more people to buy fuel and oils ;)

I just wanted to clear up any misconseptions that I dont take this seriously. I've been pretty casual about this racing stuff on the boards. Even though I drive with one hand, I am definently focused on the water and where the other boats are.  Half the time I forget to look at the flag man as we cross the start finish line, because i'm looking down coarse. I understand the dangers involve, and how each driver is counting on the other to drive smart and responsibly. So dispite how easy the video looks theres alot going on that the camera doesn't pick up.

                                                                Thanks for Reading     Ron
