Diverter Control
« on: September 12, 2018, 04:24:43 PM »
How do you guys control your diverter when racing from a standing start up to full speed. Manual diverter a couple notches up and progressively raise it as you go? I know all boats react differently and there are all kinds of set ups just trying to get a rough idea. Thanks

Typically you have a diverter stop. You aren’t achieving your best mph with the diverter all the way up. Usually with a Manuel handle depending on what hull and set up you have the quickest setting is 3-4 clicks up

No problem, also you start with it down when running from a dig, you want the boat to nose over and then click it up to your liking position that is quickest with your set up.  You loose momentum when the boat shoots up and out  of the water.

There is no real science to the degree of up and down. Just a starting point. Typically every boat will react differently. Just have to work on it to find your sweet spot.

I run a sanger superjet with a droop snoot and ride plate and manual  diverter  I leave the line with the diverter all the way down and instantly  go 2 notches  up  and leave it there the whole ride , I played with it a few times and for me this was the best for mph and et  ,with the diverter all the way up I  scrubbed speed ,I agree  with everyone else you half to play with it and find the sweet spot😎

Not sure if this is the right spot ? But your info is what I’m looking for . I have a sleek craft Tunnel hull. Would a droop snoot on my Berkley help me also how important is the ride plate ? I’m new but want it done right. Thank you for your time n experience.

Well my experience  is limited to non tunnel boats, I do have a Rogers Dragstar it is a tunnel it didn't have a droop but it did  have a ride plate  and a loader scoop I haven't been able to run it yet it's being rebuilt as we text , I will tell you that the ride plate on my sanger and a droop did  help  as well as the loader scoop but that's my boat , I have talked to Duanne at Hi - Tech jet performance  back east , he make,s a straight snoot I haven't bought one yet to try but I will ,he says the straight doesn't push the back of the boat down but more forward and doest bend the water twice all things I'm still learning I'm no expert but there,s alot of guys on here that know more than I do but I do know that you can have all the horsepower  in the world , but if you don't set up the pump right you won't go as fast as you could, Tom at jet boat performance  has helped me out alot, great guy , give him a call, hope this helped out😎

Here are a few pics of my sanger and one of my Dragstar tunnel , the tunnel doest have a diverter but cav plates like v drive I will be putting the droop on the tunnel to test and the straight  snoot too , again there are a lot of people on here with more experience than me and hopefully will chime in,The best thing is you got a cool boat and hauling ass on the water is awesome!!😎
