Who's going to be attending this race? I've got 5 days off in a row around that weekend and I'm looking for something to do. I love the races, but I'm not going to go if the jetboat boys aren't gonna come and play.
Skip
Hey Skip, unfamiliar with California Landing, where is this at?
GT
You will have alot of time to ride. This is an outboard race that they were kind enough to add the inboards since Bakersfield isnt happening. Boat racing is boat racing as far as I'm concerned its all good. We will be there if it gets the APBA sanction.
official stay the FUC* off that banshee before you end up like andy milonakis
Thats right im talking to you SKIP!!!!!!!!
What happened to Milinokas?
bring me a cuzy for this motor to float in next week kid. jim rich is done with your motor ;D apparently he's got a 514 like you do :o
i knew you would have jr do more work for you ive been reconsidering him also ;D
the truth of the matter is that if i used JR, the motor would be done by now.
OUCH!!!!
X2 ;D BURNx3
the truth of the matter is that if i used JR, the motor would be done by now.and im the guy waiting on parts nice calling your self out
wrong parts hundoesn't the builder order the parts ???
and im the guy waiting on parts nice calling your self out
You guys got any room for the newbie to join in out there? I am always in for a race day/weekend, and it would be cool to meet all you guys. Who all is going? You guys planning on rolling out on Friday night and coming home on Sunday? What hotel are you guys staying at?
Brad do you know where the closest hotels are to the race site?
alright, I may be going, a buddy of mine has a place on the island so we would probably stay at his house. Will any boats be representing SCJB in any of the races?
Try Kathy Scarbrough at (928)453-5010; she rents some of the mobil homes at the landing. I think Needles is closer.
The fin has been moved and the motor assy. should start next week; then it is off to Lake Smellmore for the breakin. I am planning on taking up beach space when Ming rolls around. How are you doing?Ken, let me know when you go to test. Maybe I could meet you out there with my boat.

Brad - SCSC shows Ming in May (tentative) and I thought there was a Puddingstone in March. Let me know if I have gone astray.
Ron - I will indeed let you know.
Ken

looks like the CJ class isnt going to fill for this event.....the possibility is a long stretch, but I dont see it happening.
There is only 2 actual compjets scheduled to compete. The minimum is 4. Theres talks of bringing in non compjet boats to 'fill out' the class. All the other compject boats are either broke, broken, or snowed in (idaho boys) I personally dont agree with this as it make the class look like we are 'rule benders' to build a boat count so a couple of guys can make some uncompetitive laps. Even though no rules are being bent/broken, but it just is not professional in my eyes.
The flip side is that it doesnt make the class look very good as this event is the first 'official' compjet race on the books and we are unable to field a class for the event.
Personally, I would rather scratch the class from the event, than make a half ass attempt to field it. If we arent going to do it right, then we shouldnt do it at all.
I know others disagree with me as they have busted their asses to make sure they were ready for this event. I am right there with you and have been put through shit to try to make this race as well (not to mention previous races/events). I just feel we should cancel out for this one.
PS - the weather has been complete crap in havasu and the forecast doesnt say otherwise for this weekend. If the event does get rain'd/blown out, theres only a 50% refund.
what are you talking about brad comp jet is an OFFICIAL class NOW and just because the boys are not ready to run you want to cause grief to those that have worked PRETTY DAMN hard to make it there
what the hell
jr
remember this is an APBA sanctioned points race also
the non comp jet boats is not true the field as i know it is
lance
jim
and the new driver
gary gossliga
the race is this weekend so if their is not enough boats to make a class then i guess they will have to do what they have to do to recieve the points they need to be in contention for US1 in COMP JETi was going to stay out of this until i read the above statement :banghead: this thinking is the start of a problem as i see it. instead of worrying about the class as a hole one would be worried about one's self. Gentalmen this class needs unity... we have always struggled with boat count, and this season is no different.. i am proposing that we as a class need to get together and choose our races wisely. i think there is 9 races this season? for me that would be 9k if i didn't brake anything. how many of us can make them all ??? i guess what i'm trying to say is if we dont have 4 but i would rather 5 true c/j boats we dont attend that event. so that we can make the next event a show to remember.
... then i guess they will have to do what they have to do to recieve the points they need to be in contention for US1 in COMP JET
...but its not like we havent had almost three months to prepair for this race...
... this is the begining of the end for this class...
For whatever my .02 are worth.
I really dont think a low boat count in this economy is going to be huge suprise to anyone.
I really think it's expected.
I also see the point of NOT wanting non-cj boats out there running, especially an unsafe one and a supposed image that might portray.
Only we as insiders really know the ins and outs so to speak as to what the end results are by having said boats out there running just to have enough boats but from shore it'll just look like another Comp Jet class.
At the end of the day, it's going to come down to a COMP JET class running that weekend.
The black and white of it all is that whether or not these "other" boats are CJ boats or not, through the toughest of times, people are "rounding up the troops" to drag this through to the end.
I commend those who can for this.
I say show up, and race.
If you dont like it, dont race :-\ .
Racing is not manditory and lets not forget that it's the competative spirit, THE DRIVE, the want of the end result, win lose or draw that made this class and if there isnt even a little piece of you that is chasing the pot at the end of the rainbow, your kidding yourself.
Lets not forget all those Nosty Races nobody (OK, just me) was ready for and we did what we had to to make it happen.
Dont give an inch guys.
Everyone knows the risks and a conscience decision by the drivers will be made to drive or not.
sorry for the long rant
-beerjet-
HBjr - good luck with the weekend, we can both fight about this until our fingers bleed and we're blue in the face - I just dont agree with it. Non-competitive boats shouldnt be let out on the course. Its like taking my daily driver to a NASCAR event. Its just silly.
Happy Valentines Day everybody :-* :-*
Sorry...that was wrong. ::)
Why not everyone go and just watch all the outboard racing action?!?! ;D Miss me?? >:D
But hey it would still be faster than Brad's liberty at Lake Ming through the turns (yes poke intendedya but it ran over 90 in the straights before the throttle cable broke.....just a thought!!
Worrying about the next race is for the people that won't be at this race. The class got pushed through the APBA so this race will be a points race. I feel we all look stupid after everybody busted their ass to get it pushed through. The promoter had to change the sanction to get IE comp jet on the bill. The boats that will be out there this race will be "legal" as a comp jet boat. Why not let rookie drivers "myself included" get seat time with a low boat count race? Sounds kinda stupid not to show up for the 1st legal Comp jet race don't ya think?
im not one to fuel the fire heheheheh. >:D..but if the class cant be filled "legally" close the class for this race and worry about the next race..........cause shit happens it always does...what if something hapens to a rooky driver or a non class "allowed" boat? it could finish the class.....
Tony, can you give me a break down of each heat in the order people placed?
also, Terry said jim missed a bouy....which heat was this? and was it recorded officially? No arguments about it, just trying to line out the points.
I would like to thank everyone who helped me out at the race. It was a great event! I look forward to competing with my 1976 Rogers currently being built by R&D Marine.lets see the boat porn start a build thread
