Title: Idaho Regatta 2015
Post by: GT Jets on May 20, 2015, 12:08:11 PM
I wasn't sure if I was going or not and did not secure a reservation for camping at or near Burley.  Does anyone know of an available site or know of someone needing to cancel? I will pay any fees owed for the site.

Let me know and spread the word.

Thanks.

If the driving range camp site is full, there is another camp site right across the river. My number is 208-421-2595 if you need any help.

That's awesome.

I called Heyburn, they said they have been booked for over two months.

So I got some help from a friend that got me hooked up.

The actually made a spot for me. At the good course.

The Regatta people have a permanent slot on my Christmas list. Awesome folks.

Thank you for the reach out.

Are you racing cj637 Rapture?

If so, see you there.

Yes I'm driving the cj 22 with my motor as I have not yet fixed my hull after I wrecked it. Glad you found a spot.

I am planning to race the Comp Jet at Burley again this year.  I need a little help from the Burley guys as I need to store my boat for a month after the race.  I am heading to Canada and maybe Alaska after the race on vacation.  I would like to locate inside storage for that period.  I don't mind paying rent either from you guys in Burley or at a storage lot.  Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Jack,
  I'm thinking I'd have to run some pretty fast laps for that to happen and I'm guessing you might have something to say about that.

Ok Ron, but you have to come to Burley and have Vance show me how to drive. I will start a thread soon as I get savy with my phone.

Pack your shit. It's alive and well.

I am sitting on a golf course right now drinking me some some Fireball over and it's 92° outside.

The pictures are on my camera. Try to get them switched over when I sober up after dinner.

I believe Shirl and Bandy are the only Comp Jets that made the trip this year.
Gotta be 3 or 4 of the Idaho boys racing.
Post up some pics Glenn.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to run a smart phone after about a quart of Makers Mark?

The CJ123 and the Cj60 were hooked up.  Bandy won both races but Dickey was right there the whole time.  Never more than ten boat lengths away.  Pretty good racing really.  No drama.

First, let me say thanks to the Moyles, the Dillworths and all the other terrific Idaho folks who work their butts off to make the Idaho Regatta at Burley a premier circle boat racing event. Also the large crowd of local people who showed up to watch the races were greatly appreciated by all the racers.

There were eight boats in the Comp Jet field and I thought that was going to rough up the water too much. But it didn't and the race conditions were pretty good.....except for the 100+ degree heat and minimal breeze.

Here are a few pix from the pits.
Mark Moyle (BBC/D'Cucci) finished 4th for the weekend and hosted the awards banquet.
[attach=3]

Glen Dillworth (BBC/Rogers) finished 3rd for the weekend, and supplied the killer trophies.
[attach=1]

Shirl Dickey (SBC/Rogers) finished 2nd for the weekend.
[attach=2]

Tom Bandy (BBC/Liberty) finished 1st for the weekend.
[attach=4]

In addition to the great racing venue at Burley, the special awards given out are part of the reason for making the long drive. The awards are the Moyle Mink (a mink coat from the Moyle Mink Ranch) and the Faulkner trophy (in memory of the late Lance Faulkner). For many decades both of these awards were given to the boat that exceeded it's class record by the greatest percentage. There was a change this year where the names of all the racers AND event workers were put in a bowl and one was drawn to win the Mink coat. One of the ladies who helped run the event was the winner.
In the battle for the prestigious Faulkner Trophy, the 3rd place Cup went to a hydro (I think - - memory fails me). The 2nd place Cup went to Tom Bandy who scored 107%. And the 1st place Faulkner Trophy went to Heath Hebert (GN369) who scored 108%. Hebert's win was a popular one with the racers, as they appreciate how he "drives the wheels off" that GN boat!

Oh, btw, there was a lady driver behind the wheel of CJ22. Name, Sandra. And she did a respectable job of running her "rookie" races.

(I struggled with trying to get photos into this post, so, if they appear I'll put up a few action shots in another post).
