In the interest of promoting River Racer Jet Tav construction will pay the entry fee's for all boats (excluding CJ's who have raced the 2013 season openers) signing up for the April Parker Races. Finney Plastics, Rodger Finney will sponsor the class with a $ 500.00 Prize Pool to be paid to the top 3 finishers for the week end. There has been a lot of interest in bringing back this class so now it's time to step up and have fun. Boats and Drivers must meet all APBA Safety conditions.

Terry , I said it once and I'll say it again , you are the best thing that ever happened to jet boat circle racing! I have seen you pay for entry fee's , loan part's to competitors , loan a spare engine to a competitor , and go wrench on a competitors boat! You are the MAN as far as I am concerned!
The racing world NEED"S more people like you!

WOW that is fricking cool ;)
-
So who is going to step up to the plate and go racing?
-
Lookib into rules when i get home is this entry level or where do i start?
-
You will need an approved life jacket (Lifeline), an approved helmet with head restraint. Your boat must have a kill switch on a cord attached to your jacket. Any size engine, blown or unblown, is okay provided you do not exceed 80.9 mph during the race. You must carry a recording gps while racing.
I will be happy to loan my jacket and helmet including head restraint and gps to the first new driver that speaks up. We will work with the race officials to make sure RRJ does not run back to back with CJ. To determine if my stuff will work for you, I am 5'10", 200lbs with 43" chest. Contact me on this forum or IM to arrange this. I'm sure there are other drivers that will do the same.

This is awesome!..
Unfortunately I no longer own a motor worthy of racing, it is paying for a new retaining wall at my home... Maybe if I sell my home in time I will make next year. Have to look out for the family first.
Kudos to the Tav organization for stepping up. Your guys are class all the way.
Shirl, what you do for the sport is beyond description. Makes be proud to call myself a jet boater. 8)

Terry,
I would love to participate with this, but I need to still get my motor back in shape. I have a few weeks to get it done, hopefully I can get it done in time.

so, what was the boat count? Good to see you still goin' at it Mr. Valore!! Thank you for your dedication to the sport.

Only 3 made it out and a flatbottom.

Only 3 made it out and a flatbottom.
that's a pretty good turn out considering how hard it is to get people to show up and race. That's what has always intrigued me about the jet class, is that it doesn't necessarily have to be a purpose built race boat (for nostalgia) c/j is another story.
-
Hey Rick, not enough boats for N/J, so Terry got with Ross and combine with the flat bottoms, made it a GPS 85 class.

I guess your ass didnt get up huh ;)
So let me just say what a blast we had in the RiverRacer jet class with the people we raced with, Matt letcher, Bill Mason, Jay(sr) Hart, Brent Daily, Amanda Rich. Thanks to 2 great guys who want to see drivers having some fun again, So thank you Terry Valor (TAV Construction) and Rodger Finney (Finney's powdercoat & plastics). Terry put up the entry money for all new drivers and Rodger put up the cash payout for 1st 2nd 3rd finishers. Also want to thank Ross Wallace for working with are class and letting us run in a merged class due to the people that said they where gonna make it and flaked. Next race is Burley Idaho so maybe the northerners will have enough boats to make the class run again I know we're making the tow up there if they'll have us.
-
Saved my self a lot of $$$$ but was very disappointed with the turn out. It was great to see those that did show up have a great time. thats what it is suppose to be all about. It is going to be a hard sell to get ross to schedule any further RR races im afraid after that showing.

Just show up and he'll put you guys on the roster. Ross is always looking for a boat count.
I wasnt able to show up because I had a family function I had to go to the same weekend. My motor is in shambles from the Idaho race last year, but I plan on getting it situated by then - and even if it doesn't come together motor wise, I will still go up there to support, drink, and hang with my dad and sister. Burley is the best race of the year in my opinion.
-
Not pointing my finger at you Brad with my post you obviously had prior arraignments, But other people knew about this opportunity especially all the people who said if the class came back they'd run it and the excuse of time running out is bs since Terry announced his plans awhile ago (hell even Jim Rich Showed up in a wheel chair after dying and being paralyzed), Rodger Finney put up a cash payout even, so the money excuse is out now all we have left is lazy bullshitters that said they'd be there if there was a class.
I broke a Rod on Easter weekend it windowed my Armando's pan did some minor damage to the block but got lucky on my rotating assembly fixed the motor and pan by Thursday installed with the help of family and friends Friday raced all weekend, hell my dad pretty good his first time out 2nd overall and he seemed to get more comfortable each heat
-
well, calling people lazy bullshitters is no way to boost the moral about getting people to show up. We all know it takes a lot to commit to a boat race and money isnt always the deal breaker. Why not be the better person here and reach out to them and see if theres something they need help with...be it parts, safty gear....or maybe just some motivation.
I'm not trying to be all hippy "Kumbaya" n shit here, but the negativity isnt the right motivation to help promote this class. It's about fun, remember?
And no, i didnt feel you were fingering me out...I just felt I needed to state my current status with my boat and my future plans. See ya in Ida HO!
-
BTW.....what happened to JR? I noticed hes been real quiet lately.
-
he had a few different stories for every different person he talked to, and as far as help with gear, parts, time that was all covered what it comes down to is certain people told terry you set up the race we'll be there and guess what he put himself out there yet again to be left barely hanging, we're lucky Ross is willing to make up a program to oblige us by combining boat classes, he had a full boat field due to other classes and a total of 10 wrecks fyi he canceled crackers the gn 25 lap main even so he bent over a little for us and those of us that put forth a little bit of effort after giving are word we'd be there really appreciate it
-
Honestly, I don't want join in on this rr class or circle boat racing if I gotta worry about a dedicated racer calling me a lazy flake when I'm literally starting from scratch and probably haven't even so much as even been to a race.
Which quite frankly, is how I started.
You're post are such loose butthole.

Well if your one of the people who said they where gonna be there to support class and flaked at this particular race then it is what it is
-
i flaked since work slowed down and have two weak cylinders :) not going to burn up a motor that i cant fix off the bat but twith he ls6 motor build on hold i will try to slap someting together soon to help the class out. my priorities are my house with no wheels under it and all my other toys i enjoy. but i hope terry gets the help he needs to get this class established

This is suppose to be for fun guys. We don't need name calling/etc. Let s move on and see if we can't get a better showing at the next race. If anyone is looking for parts, help or advice I will be willing as well as a lot of racers here on the boards to see if we can't help out.

It was a fun weekend and with more boats out there it's exciting to watch!! Jeremiah seems like your pops had a kick ass weekend!! For budget racers like most of us are I would recommend this class!!
