Greetings Comp Jet class racers. As the season winds down I want to say Thanks to all of you guys who welcomed our team to the APBA sprint racing events, particularly those classy individuals who spread the rumors that we are running an illegal engine.
After the San Diego race “the engine” will return to its former life powering Tom Bandy’s Hallett ski boat on the River. That means you guys only have one chance left to file a REAL protest against the engine’s displacement.
For those of you who just KNOW we are cheating, but the protest fee is holding you back, let me sweeten the pot for you. File your protest, and when the APBA Tech Inspector comes to our pit, I will hand him $500 cash to be awarded to the protestor if the Inspector declares our engine to be over the 515 cu in limit. Of course, per APBA 2012 IE Racing Rule 10.4, you lose your $250 protest fee if we are under the 515 cu in limit.
You can double your investment!! Go for it.

Good for you Jack. Tell them to put their money where their mouth is.
I was disgusted by the act of pure poor sportmanship at Burley. Every time your boat was mentioned or congradulated in conversations, there was always a nay sayer to be quick to jump up and cry "cheater" or "illegal motor"
I finally got fed up and told one of them to shut up and protest it if they feel so strongly about it.
The other lame thing I heard was that the ring gear failure on the last heat on Sunday in Burley was "staged" so they couldnt turn your motor over to pump it. (laughter) :screwy:
I really thought it was awesome that you came back out to compete in CompJet Racing and did it successfully. I really hope this whole situation doesnt leave a bad impression of the class and you return next year and kick some more butt. There are a few sour apples in our group, but dont let them spoil the fun for the rest of us.

Jack, let the haters hate f uck them. Keep that liberty kicking ass

Who was claiming they had a large engine? I've been out of the loop.
-
Who it was is irrelevant. I am very curious to see how this pans out. Wish i could make it down there this weekend.
-
Sounds like it jealously talking jack maybe they can pay for your services to help with there set ups :)

All's I heard was that it's.......a 572! ;)

I don't have a dog in this fight, but having been involved in several types of racing I understand some of the problems associated with being caught cheating. The loss of revenue and respect for a shop that is directly involved with a competitor caught cheating could be huge. And the small amout of money or fame received with winning a comp jet race or title wouldn't even come close to covering the losses.
It's the racers job to push the limits of the rule book, but trying to run something more than 50ci larger than legal would be ignorant.

I dont know that much about racing and even less about engine displacement but I know that Jack and his driver Tom Bandy are not liars or cheats. Jack has tons of credibility and has been tinkering with jet boats since about the time I was born. There is a little picture way up in the corner of his shop of him racing "Ballin Jack" back in the day and it's just about the coolest thing on planet Earth to see him at it again after all these years. Go get em' Jack!!!

Well, Seems noone has put up the money for a blowdown of the engine.

Oh well.....no takers.
Too bad only five CJ's showed up. The course was a little different and looked both challanging & fun.
The salt water washes off :)

Quick question? How do you question a motor 3 months after the event ?

Quick question? How do you question a motor 3 months after the event ?
If it did not get protested at the proper time.......End of story......pretty sure that would be the answer. ;D

[quote author=Bigjohn13 Quick question? How do you question a motor 3 months after the event ?
Easy, Burley, could of P&G if thought was illegal, Long Beach, could of P&G if thought was illegal, San Diego, could of P&G and doulbled money to boot if it actually was illegal. so to say after 3 months after an event, either put up or shut up :banghead: :screwy: guess some people dont want to know the real truth, could be embarrasing couldn't it?
pow wow time.

How did the motors do in Long beach and San Diego ?

How did the motors do in Long beach and San Diego ?
It pushed a middle weight boat to some pretty good speeds.....and could have done it on 91 pump gas. 8)

Just throwing some darts into the dark and see where they hit. just wondering whats going on around here, been very quiet, not a peep let alone any drama. at least i got a reply.........as for the motor comments they weren't directed toward anyone inperticular, just seeing if i'd get a bite. hope the 300 gets a good boat count and the 1000' race does well also. the one that matters most will be the thanksgiving race, who's making this one?
this boat racing stuff needs some promoting.

I didnt take the motor comment personal or think it was directed at anyone. I've exhausted my promoting of this class.
Here...i'll toss ya bone.... They are trying to pass a new rule allowing aluminum blocks up to 475ci and a max of 4.400" bore spacing. (cast is still allowed up to 515ci)
What do you guys think of that? Better yet, why dont we start a new thread on that and leave jacks thread alone?
