Saturday racing is complete. CJ460 & CJ20 did not show, but Christian Munk did show - with plates on his Anthony.
Comp Jet was one of the bigger classes. Six Boats in the class and Shirl Dickey, CJ60, kicked ass in both heats.
Ron Lund's boy in CJ511 was a very fast rookie and claims to be totally hooked.
Beautiful weather for racing. Looking for more of same on Sunday.

Right on. Thanks for the tidbits. Wanted to go, but had a rough week and was exhausted. Didn't seem safe to make the drive.
Better safe than sorry.

Yes, thanks for the updates. Good luck today!

Gotta say It was a great weekend of racing.
My son Vance ran the boat for the first time.
All 4 races ran over 90mph. A top speed of 94.3 Sunday morning.
Looks like I lost my ride to him. Now I'm just the boat owner.
-
Here's a quick rundown for Sunday (as best I can remember).
Morning heat - 1st Tom Bandy (CJ123), 2nd Shirl Dickey (CJ60), 3rd Mark Yunker CJ169.
Final heat - 1st Mark Yunker, 2nd Tom Bandy, 3rd Shirl Dickey. This was as good a race as any class of the weekend. Mark and Tom were within boat lengths of each other the whole way, trading the lead many times. The win was by a few feet at the finishline.
We left before the trophy presentation so I don't know the official results, but here's a guess - Shirl won the day on Saturday and Tom won the day on Sunday. I'm not sure who won the whole weekend event. Regardless, it was a great race weekend - just ask Vance Lund :D

Here is the only video I shot during the week end. This is Heat #1 on Sunday morning. The line up is
Shirl Dickey CJ60 lane #1
Tom Bandy CJ123 lane #2
Harold Bruce CJ21 lane #3
Mark Yunker CJ169 lane #4
Vance Lund CJ511 lane #5
Watch in full screen mode and it's almost like being there. ;D

I wish I had taped the second heat because it was a very close race.

Very cool Jack. Thanks for sharing.
-
Wish I was there!!!! putting the pan back on now !!!
-
Thanks for posting up that video Jack. Your boat hauls ass. Who does your pump work, Haha.
In that race I didn't put enough fuel in the left tank and it started sucking air as it was sloshing around on the last lap and a half. Sorry Vance.
Harold wasn't going to let Vance pass him like he did Saturday afternoon for 3rd.
-
That's awesome to see Vance out there! Good job Ron.

A few more pics

What great weekend  ...Nice catching up with all you in the pits and around the bouys, I was hoping to bring a little more to the show than I did :-\ My little FORD FE 390cid held together and did what she could considering she was all done by 3,500 rpm ;D She managed to keep from getting passed by any BOWTIES ^-^
My goal was really to get Brown Sugar out doing laps and a little much needed seat time with her new plate set up. Sitting out for the Sunday races was cool, hung out, cruise the pits and was able to chat with Jack a bit and watch the show which was pretty dam exciting  . All I can say is Brown Sugar will be back for Long Beach with a whole lotta FOOORD POWER ;)

That's awesome Bud, really wish I could have been there. There was no way on two hours sleep and 16 hour days I could have made the drive down without killing myself (or worse)...
Talk soon....

76 Bonneville,
So, what are the rookie rules? How long does he run the outside? Looks like you guys have enough speed, just traveling a further distance.

Only had to run the outside on Saturday. Met with the APBA offishal on Sunday morning and he said Vance could go inside.
I told him to leave lanes since he was the new guy and let the drivers get comfortable with him.
Ming is a good course to start out on with the big corners, but also carries high speeds.

We'll cap off this thread with the Sunday Comp. Jet Races

Nice job Father-Son. Look forward to see more in the future!

Ron, I just got my big screen TV to play You Tube directly from the Net and your videos show with amazing clarity. It's like a ride along in the boat. Very impressive! What resolution are you recording at?
Jack

Hey Jack
I had to text Vance for the info. He said 1080 at 30 fps was good enough for You Tube.
Glad you liked it. I know he put in quite a bit of time putting them together.
Did you guys a run a GoPro on your boat?
Ron
