OK guys, now is the time to plan on the Parker season opener in November. If you're thinking this race is not important, I can tell you it is the START of our region 12 season and this year, '09, APBA will recognize the CJ class for National High Point honors. Those of you running NJ, still a local class, but growing fast, come on out and gain these all important available points. I know a couple of racers were talking about taking the year off due to several different reasons, the majority of which is this shitty economy. Think about this: If you change your mind in February because your outlook is looking better you can't go back and run Parker retroactively. Parker is important. Parker is the start of the season. And, just think, you'll all be in the top 5 or 6 of APBA points for the 3 months prior to any other region starting their season!!!...Could even lead to some sponsorship if used as a selling point.......I look forward to seeing all of the CJ boats make a good showing at Parker. Remember, APBA is watching.....See you there, Ray
-
Could they have picked a worse weekend to have a race . Some of us , even as spectators , have thanksgiving dinner with our families at home and quite frankly , I'm not going to get all hopped up on turkey and risk my life driving out there . Unfortunalty you have a great point Ray .

Yeah, Thanksgiving weekend makes it tough for a lot of people. I personally can't remember a turkey day weekend anywhere else in the last couple of decades. It was really cool when they ran kilos on Friday and raced on Sat/Sun........But time marches on, enjoy your turkey and family get together....Ray
-
Just curious, whats the boat count looking like?
-
I think there will be 6 comp jet boats running for Thanks Giving!
-
Do we know yet who all will be at Parker?
-
This is what roughly I know...not confirmed one bit.
cj410 (nick)
cj222 (mark)
cj72 (jim)
cj426 (lance)
cj53 (toby)
cj313 (harold)
cj888 (brad)
did i miss anyone?
Ken, did you fix your oil issues? Is Louis driving the 402? Scott, did you get another motor put together yet?
I know 812, 22, and 288 are confirmed out.
-
The 402 is being repainted so wont be there, I will be there with Marks motor. I ran out of time to get mine done. Didnt want to take the chance putting it together last minute and having it blow up again.
-
looks like we have a pretty stout class lined up so far...
1. cj410 (nick)
2. cj222 (mark)
3. cj72 (jim)
4. cj426 (lance)
5. cj53 (toby)
6. cj313 (harold)
7. cj888 (brad)
8. cj637 (scott)

That's good to see the 410 boat will be in business, why the switch of boats Nick?
Looks like a good field

i dont think nick will ever drive the 222 after long beach. the 410 has been completely re-rigged from the intake up by R&D and is a completely different boat (handling wise....and looks too from what i hear :sly: )...he will drive the 410 from now on ....i think i even heard terry say he wont ever put nick back in the 222 either.
the 222 boat is great for big open tracks (ie: burley - its home course)....its shallow bottom just doesnt like the rough stuff like long beach and parker (where nick wrecked the 222 both places)

Hmm, well I hope the 410 isn't TOO different! He drove the hell out of that boat, from a spectator point of view, always looked like confident turns made in that thing... he pointed it where he wanted it to go and it went!
I'll be at Parker for Friday, but will be leaving for the dunes, hope to see you guys there and have some good times ;)

i have to disagree...that boat moved, but handled bad in the chop...it wanted to fly like a kite every time it lifted the bow...the pump unloaded like crazy even in burley...even with the cav plates pinned down as hard as i could push....then it rocked its way out of every turn. Terry got to test drive it briefly last week and he said its a million times better....he said he turned it at 70 and didnt even lift and it pinned itself through the turn like it was on rails.
it was a good boat for nostalgia when we were running 4-5 boats....but with 6+ boats trying to break 85, it was a real rough ride....we'll see how it does in parker. im sure its going to do great.

Well if it's even better now..... that's not good for the other racers ;D I remember at Njba when it was against Mr. Horsepower (Ralph) trying to dive into the turns after him... but then again that was only 4 boats like you said
-
even with the cav plates pinned down as hard as i could push....
Brad....Harold siad that the plates wrer not even working when he checked them
-
why the switch of boats Nick?
PW, I love that boat and the way it looks but it is just to unruly. The 410 boat NOW handles much better and will be the boat I drive.
-
The # 410 has been retired.
The boat will now be C/J 21 (Black Jack)
-
Hey Nick, Have you gotten any seat time in the new CJ21?
-
Going this sat to the river to get a full day of seat time in it :)
-
Which part of the river?
-
We are meeting up with Harold so where ever it is that he goes to.
-
<----------------------------NICE AZZ NICK!!! :o
good luck in the new ride!!! stay safe!
-
Thanks Chromey!

WTF?????
my shit isnt done...
as much as i tell myself that getting mad isnt going to fix it, i just cant seem to listen to myself. :banghead:
oh well. i learned a lot in the past few weeks.

Sorry to hear that Brad. :(
If its a motor issue, you could always go take 2savs motor, he wont use it. >:D

thats the thing, im stuck in 2sav's situation...
apparently getting shit done in bullhead (no, not jr) in a timely manner is unheard of. its like a twilite zone or black hole of time...there is no sense of priority or sense of accountability...tasks that should take 2 weeks, take 3 months. it is what it is and i now know where to not go and what not to do.
thanks to jeremie for putting the effort in attempting to get it done and dealing with my frustration through this matter.
-
I see my name and a bunch of bullshit under it..... ::)
Is this directed at me........WTF ???
If so , you have no clue of what i go through everyday trying to get my shit done

Thats funny cause right after i re'read it , i was thinking to myself. Maybe im jumping the gun again :banghead:
IM KINDA PISSY AT THE MOMENT......... My G/F family is all here and im surrounded with no back up :sly:
Sorry B-rad :-* :D

You aint kidding .
Your probably better off brad . Nothing good has ever come from rushing a motor build . Hell I'm realistically lookin at almost 2 years out for me :-\ We'll see .

Sorry guys if I stirred the sh## the wrong way. Didnt plan on getting anyones pantys in a bunch.
And Steve, next year you should invite all of us over for Thanksgiving, we could out number the G/Fs family.

And here, this whole time, I though there was only one way to stir shit, learn something new every damn day ::)
Steve, you have to be sooooo close now, hang in there man, at least you don't have a Penis Wrinkle for a neighbor calling the police every time you pull the boat out of the garage... >:(

So what all did/didn't happen with the motor Brad?

So what all did/didn't happen with the motor Brad?
thats the problem....i dont know...
apparently a misordered part (timing set) was the deal breaker yesterday as we cant get another in time....but as far as why the hell it came down to this being so last minute as we started this project 4 months ago....im embarrased to say i dont know...

I hope it's not just the timing set holding you back, But tomorrow is raceday, and shit takes time

Got a quick race story for ya, the first Jetboat race I ever actually participated in was in Oregon on the Rogue River in 1989, my buddy had this old boat and was determined to race it up the mighty Rogue, pretty much no matter what, he spent the better part of a year prepping the boat, getting all of his safety gear together and making sure everything was "perfect", got down to the wire and tested in the weeks before the race, got to race day and the boat would not run past 1200 RPM, no other problems, just would only idle and die...He was so frustrated he put the boat back on the trailer and simply parked it, I went over to the boat with my other freind and said to him "we cannot let this thing beat us", we looked at everything; tach, wireing, carb., carb linkage, name something, finally I pulled the coil out of the boat and took the one out of my Blazer (GM HEI) bolted it in and the thing took off like it was scared...we made the starting line with a whole minute and a half to spare....we raced several more times together after that, unfortunately, we all grew up, got married, had kids, mortgages, and responsibilities that kept us from risking life and limb, but the stories will last forever, I am seriously trying to get back into the raceing scene again, but on a limited scale...
I guess what I'm trying to say is, and I think Ralph would agree, about half, if not more of the fun/challenge is getting to run in the first place.
The amount of challenges vary; money, technical difficulties, weather and so on, but the way you handle them should stay the same...one at a time.
Sorry to hear about the problems Brad, but what doesn't kill us makes us stronger.

yes...im still going to parker help out with the others....im leaing after work tonight...see you guys there
-
Sorry to hear things didn't work out ,Have fun over there and Best of luck to all the racers , crews and support people Tom Rhonda and Josh
-
they only ran one heat of compjet today.....they ran out of daylight before they could run the second heat....so they are running the remaining 3 heats tomorrow starting at 8am
first heat results:
1st) Harold Bruce 313
2nd) Toby Clark 53
3rd) Lance Nicoles
4th) Jim Rich 72
5th) Scott From Idaho 637
21 and 222 broke
Both of terrys boats broke...they tossed a coin to see which boat gets the backup motor in it.....so they are up in havasu at the cucci shop putting the spare in the 222 tonight
toby and harold put on some seriously good racing today....they both swapped pole positions 3-4 times between first and second within the 4 lap heat....it really had the crowd going. Nick and lance were neck and neck most of the race until nick broke down with mark in the 222 right behind them. Scott held 4th place most of the race until he spun out.
i will report back tomorrow with the rest of the results.
-
Thats freakin awsome . Sounds like the Bruces are putting everyone through the paces again . You have no idea how much it sucks sitting at home biteing my nails thinkin about the races . Good luck to everyone and be safe .
-beerjet-
-
heard lance was running good awsome looks like a long project paid off congrats to all this weekend so how did terry rogers run ?
glad to hear toby was out there to bad brad didnt get all HIS stuff together he would have been out there
-
to bad brad didnt get all HIS stuff together he would have been out there
oh, so now its all MY fault?
man up and take some accountability for once, jeremie.
-
never said it was yours but your not doing such a good job doing your part and mite i add nice character wining on the net like it all someone elses fault nice buddy ;D
-
Oh this is going well ::)
-
Oh this is going well ::)
yeah, tell me about it
well, sunday didnt go well for others
toby went through 2 sets of head gaskets and mark chucked the #1 rod through the pan on the backup motor after 2 laps
heat #2 (from saturday
harold bruce
lance nicoles
scott daily
jim rich
(mark and toby didnt get out for this one)
heat #3 (first heat on sunday)
harold bruce
lance nicoles
scott daily
jim rich
(toby spun out then came in because of all the oil in his bildge - it was blowing out the breathers)
(Mark lunched his motor)
heat #4
harold bruce
lance nicoles
scott daily
jim rich
overall lance and harold put on some great racing....back and forth battling it out....lance's driving improved significantly over the weekend.
scott and jim also duked it out each heat pretty good....jim usually had the upper hand but it seemed his motor would crap out every race on the last heat and scott would take the lead.
I did not go to the banquet/awards ceremony so i dont know what the season final results were. I had to get back up to vegas to go to work this morning. I hope someone else can chime in.
