1975 Wriedt Montara

Hi guys! New to scjb, just picked up this 75' Wriedt Montara off my uncle, Interior is newer in great shape, fresh blueprinted Berkeley jet, fresh wiring, stringers have been re done, I picked up 77 460 with straight up timing gear swap, rv cam and edelbrock intake, going to leave it mild for the time being but eventually bigger can and maybe aluminum heads, might start building a 552 stroker with an extra block I have. Can't wait to hit the bay and the Delta! Any input or opinions appreciated, my first day cruiser/jet boat, currently I've got a 1991 centurion falcon as well.

I have a set of the long bolt style. They are ugly but serviceable, but no bolts. Shipping would kill you but if you could arrange a local pick up they are yours for FREE cuz you're now rocking the baddest Mo Fo on the water. Love me some Montara.

A week from now I will sell them to anybody for $75.00. Sold the boat and the motor that I was saving them for.

Thanks! unfortunately I'm about 4-5 hours away, I may pick up a set near the Delta which is close to me, appreciate it though! So far everyone has been very knowledgeable and helpful on here! So the wriedt is a bad ass boat? I don't know much about it, only boat like it that i have gone out on is my co workers 77 23 foot sleek craft with a twin turbo 460 big block. How did the Wriedt ride?

With the diverter it rode like a much smaller hull. The bottom is fairly flat and doesn't go thru chop as well as I would have expected for a 23'r. It does seem very solid and well built, there is no flex in the deck even with my bulk on it. My float has a bench and a full width engine cover which allows for more comfortable seating and the wife to work on her tan.
My only complaint is that a 455 will never have the power to move itself out of the hole like a skier needs. The only other Montara I have ever seen on the water had a 720 hp Pontiac in the bay. Not surprisingly, his hotshot was a bit different than mine. Good luck with the BBF build. I am thinking about doing the same thing.

Good thing I have a Ski boat for water sports. got any pics of your wriedt?

No decent pics really. It looks nust like yours except no white inside the red and a small yellow highlighting border between the red and white. Interior is a buckskin tan, 2 Captain's chairs and a bench across the back. I have the same bow rail too and a teak swim step over the Berkley. My icebox is hammered and I have talked to Rick @ Islanders about cutting the entire dash out and moving it forward to open up the passenger area more. With a wraparound bench that boat could seat 6-7 people and still have room for the bed downstairs.

when you say ice box, I'm assuming where that woofer box is, used to be the ice box?

I lost the pic of the icebox somewhere here in my computer. It occupies the area in front of the front passenger's seat and goes nearly from floor to ceiling. Is the underside of your deck covered in faux fur and the sides of the hull in shag carpet? All the berth on this tub needs is a disco ball.

The faux fur is there still, the interior has been redone so it's not the same. Looks like they built that woofer box in place of the ice box.

Thanks. I bought it from a marine detailer in Havasu and it was beautiful when I first got it over 10 years ago. Having it sit outside for so long has not been good to it but I am literally moving to a new house this weekend and so soon it will at least get a large carport to stay under and a new cover has been ordered. The interior is OK but the floor is soft and the engine cover broke so getting across it and in and out of boat is difficult now. It has a brand new roller cammed Olds 455 but it isn't enough to pull up my 280 lbs on a single ski so I am not all that thrilled with it. I want to teach my kids to ski but they are almost as big as me now. I was set to pull the trigger on a Eliminator Mojave with a 625 horse BBC when this house deal got in the way. My buddy ended up buying it instead and maybe we will finally get to a gathering of the SCJB tribe before 2017.

With the right power these boats are just perfect. They are sturdy, look good and unique, they have a ton of storage and room to party! They allow you to get out of the sun and wind if you want, we have all slept in it many times. The only thing not to like is they are kind of big and clumsy when you are trying to load them onto the trailer. Wind and current really push them around and often you are in pretty deep because of the extra length. Hope you enjoy the hell out of yours. Sorry for the thread hijack.
