Hey guys been lurking for a long time and learning on this site while working on my old man's boat. Been to a couple of events with the old man's boat and finally got one of my own.
Picked up this 1977 19' Eliminator Daytona at the end of December up in Oregon and have been to busy to do anything to it. Went out to the races at Parker this past weekend to tow hoe for my dad again and got the fire stoked again.
So this is what I got to start with and got a lot of big plans for her. Hoping to make it out to the Parker race in April and run SE and keep working my way up.

Thanks. Yeah those keys won't be leaving the boat anymore. And today I just wanted to go put around with the engine that it came with. Gonna try again tmrw. Its just a crate 454 nothing special. But planning on yanking that on Thursday and still am figuring out what will be put back in it. I have a few options I'm contemplating.

Ive been following yours since I got mine. Im glad I don't have as much work ahead of me as you do. I just got a few dings along the rail. apparently one of the former owners of this boat didn't realize a capped boat gets damaged rubbing up against docks.

Yeah I don't trust the engine the guy before me had in it. He had a big blower motor that he toasted and between river trips he just kinda threw this engine together. Plus I want more power and two I want a reliable rig. And I don't plan on using the engine that it came with due to it benig a gen v

Looks like yours has been changed a bit from the factory, seats have been moved back and steering column extended which is a good thing. My engine is coming forward 8",
and seats set back like yours. They perform better that way and the back seat is useless anyway.
Mine ran right at 80 with a .30 over 454, 11-1, and dual 660's.
Is yours a round or flat keel?

Well got her wet for the first time yesterday. First hurdle was a dead battery. The last owner always disconnected the battery after each use. I turned it over at the house to make sure the battery was good and it fired right up. Just left it hooked up for like 30 min while I picked up my buddy, beer and headed to the lake and by the time I got there it was stone cold dead. Still cant figure out what is drawing on it. Already ordered a painless disco switch.
Then she fired right up and ran started idling around and ran pretty good. About two min later realized I had taken on some water. Got back to the ramp and realized the last owner had pulled the block water drain plugs to winterize it since the boat was up in Oregon. Not something I'm used to checking here in sunny so cal. Ran to the hardware store and grabbed two plugs and after that was smooth sailing.
Well after getting the kinks worked out I got her cruising. I love the way this thing rides I've never riden in a Daytona before. Didn't really get on it at all probably topped out around 50-55. Previous owner said he got it on radar at 79 with this setup. Don't need another speeding ticket at puddingstone. Plan on taking her to Elsinore next week with a different engine to really open her up.

👍👍 that's good to hear! Considering you went to puddingstone you might be fairly close to me. I'm outta pomona/chino, I'm no wize but if you need help pulling motors or anything else let me know.

Thanks man yeah I'm in Glendora and probably am gonna be working on it over at my dads in San Dimas for the most part. I might take you up on that. When is the winger gonna be back on the water with the new power?

Shooting for the first of april. But in no hurry, main focus is to get jimpen winger back so we can get it re rigged and up to how mine sits currently.

Just changed it to round during this rebuild. Chris at B1 racing in Santa Ana did the work. He did the keel, and changed the loader, intake etc to a much better set up then the hack job that was on it. Those changes are according to him good for 5-7 mph.

Yeah im getting in line for him. Gonna round the keel, setback the pump, low pro intake, jet away, rebuild the pump and probably some other chit I can't think of right now.

Is yours original gelcoat or paint? If you message me your vin I have a guy at eliminator that can look up the order, delivery date, colors etc

Cool thanks. The gel on the deck I'm pretty sure is original. It was capped and when they capped it it looks like they either painted or geled all the dark blue. I'm guessing so all the dark blue was the same shade.

Why is the leading edge of your keel so long & the tail so ( going into the intake ) so shallow & low ? Is that a Mercsh LP intake ? I've done bottom work on alot of Daytona's , Stealth's etc . So I'm very curious about your keel layup !!! I'm never to old for up & new technology !
