Title: 1979 FRESNO mini day cruiser purchase👌🏻
Post by: jet crazy on July 05, 2016, 07:10:35 PM
Hey what's up fellas! So my family and I are getting back in the boating game! After selling our last jet boat (76 Miller open bow) we introduced a little girl into our lives, now that two years have passed its time to get back into it and let out little girl get some excitement out on the water in our new float.
I've have been looking for a good month for a jet boat and they say, "good things happen to those that are patient"... I hate when my wife says that to me, but I tell ya, shit is true, because I came up with (what I think) is a killer deal. I came across a 1979 FRESNO mini day cruiser that was in great condition. The guy only had it up for about two hours before I called, I was the first one to call and hop on the deal. The boat looks to have pretty low hours and kept in great condition for its year, the motor was gone through, just to name a few, new distributor, plugs, wires, carb, fuel pump and fresh oil. The pump looks to be pretty fresh too, with a newer bowl and suction housing and also included was a Bimini top, storing cover three brand new life jackets, docking rope, two new bumpers, and all safety equipment! So I gave the guy his asking price at $5k I thought that was a damn good price for this particular boat and for everything that came with it. I brought I home and started to do what I wanted to do to it. As of now I ripped out all the interior, ripped out all of the carpet, built new seat bases, cleaned and conditioned all of the interior pieces (oxy clean and mr clean magic erasers work WONDERS btw they look new) took the diverter apart and removed all of the external hardwear and emblems for a fine detail.
I just finish ordering all of the little things that I need to complete this light build of mine and can't wait to get her out on the water. Soon I'll get some recent photos of the boat and the interior, here is a few from the day I brought it home...

What a "outrageous" find. In my humble opinion, the best looking mini Day Cruiser EVER made. I'm kind of biased. I live in a small town just outside of Fresno. Always admired their stylized design. Be sure to keep us posted. Beautiful boat dude!!.

Here's a few shots from yesterday. I put a new seal kit on the diverter so it's nice and tight and also re polished the diverter. I installed a new diverter cable transom seal too, If you see from the fist photo I posted it was coming through the bilge hole😬 I'm waiting for my other cable seal for the transom cover. It was Back ordered from CP

I built a new pressure relief valve system with a water hose bib so I can run it in my driveway if I needed to.

The interior is all cleaned and ready to be installed once I get the new carpet laid down.

Looks really nice! Only thing I would do different with your pressure relief and valves, maybe build a stringer mount bracket so it's not rigid mounted with all the weight hanging on the pump. I had a similar set-up, the brass pipe nipple cracked and just about put my boat at the bottom of the river.

Good call! Ok yeah I'll look into doing that. I don't want to be pulling my shit from the bottom of the lake. Thanks for the heads up.

That bracket is sweet. Think about Stringer washers under the head of those mounting bolts. Just thinking. Have you had it wet yet.?

Finished up the exterior buffing/wax job. She's getting close to being finished now time to focus on the interior. I dialed in my dash area just waiting on my steering wheel hub.

I have a vintage Motorola tack , black-faced , Chrome bezel if you'd be interested. It might look better in your dashboard then that black one you have now. I'm not sure how attached you are to that black one though. I believe its 3 5/8.

Not attached at all. Haha yeah this one I got looks janky. It works but it would be cool to get something that looks a bit better than this one. How much would you let yours go shipped to Livermore ca? Does it have a light?

Wow really! That's cool to know. I tried looking up more info about Fresno boats but just didn't have any luck. The only boat I found exactly like mine was a blue and white one on this site (scjb) and another for sale at semper speed and marine. Its a V-drive, all red hull, blown bb and also had the same interior layout as mine.

http://semperspeedandmarine.com/Power-Boats-Inboard-FRESNO-454-1995-3c266a2c-03ca-4bcb-aab2-

Yeah if you can shoot me over some pictures of the tach I'd appreciate that.

Here's a few photos of the one I saw in scjb

That's it. 3 11/16 across the face , hard to get a measurement across the back.
Fresno boats number 559 - 284 - 8540. Lenny Weekes is the owner's name ,I think. If he wants to talk to you, reserve 30 minutes , if he doesn't want to talk, he'll tell you to go to hell. Hahahaha. Good luck!

Yeah that's what I've herd from a few folks, but being a 6'6" dude its pretty nice having it that tall. But I agree I looks titty as fuck sitting that tall. Defiantly I'm going to chop it down about 6" or so.

Oh man I can’t believe I am seeing this boat. I grew up on this boat and my dad had it built at Fresno boats in 1979 and we parked it in their show room floor for years. If you want some old pictures of it let me know.  It looks like someone did some work on the jet as the whole thing was polished and ported and hand selected for no pits.

PM me I would love to talk about it.
