 The boat market has taken a really hard hit, in this economee! The boat looks great . but is only worth what the highest bidder is willing to spend. good luck and have a nice holliday.

IMO $3000 is $1500 too much  .  .  .  and  you  would really, really have to want a 16' boat badly. 

Smooth water was easy to find in 1971 but in 2012 I would expect that you would always be wishing for something bigger nearly every time you go out.  It does appear to be in real fine shape appearance wise.   Let us know what you do.

I agree with 3000 being too much. If I remember correctly sandeggo has a 16 footer and he was saying in a thread somewhere how it was too small for the rollers and such and was rough. If it were me I would look for a bigger boat. Like 19ftDANA said there are nice boats for sale right now for cheap.

Had I been a member on this site BEFORE purchasing my boat, I probably would have paid considerably less for it.

This isnt a mass produced 1/4 stringer tahiti, sanger, kona, etc..

Even if its what you want, I sure wouldn't walk up with 6k to start negotiating..

Think about how much money and time it will take to get it seaworthy. Is the upholstery going to disintegrate when you sit in it being that old?

The major point in a boat purchase is to get the boat you want and keep some hard earned money. You have plenty of ammunition to get it for a low price.

you missed where I said 'showroom condition' for 6k. i didnt say walk up and hand the guy 6k. I said site unseen (aka by looking at the pictures) I would say its easily a $3k boat.

all is relative and of course negotiations of price are to be made during the purchase, but for those of you who called this boat a $1500 boat are wrong. If it was something else, yes, but Roger took pride in his boats and didnt make junk. This boat is in great cosmetic shape for its age.

I'd say its a $3k boat and the price would go up from there depending if the pictures are hiding any lies or not.

Gem or not it is still a 16 footer and will never be a good boat to use anywhere within 6 hours of So Cal on a weekend.   And the paint may be in great shape for its age, but it is still brown. Ewww.

i disagree. That 16 footer will out handle the chop of most boats that are larger than it. that deep V entry on the bow is a beautiful thing when youre fighting big chop.

The Wriedt my cousin restored is a prime example - it is primarily used in Havasu and it eats n shits the chop out there.

A 16' Rogers is like finding an Austin Healy for a English Sports Car guy.  Not many were made and fewer still are in any kind of shape that this one seams to be.  This is not a boat to go out river racing with. This boat you take out wearing cut-off Levis a Hang Ten T-shirt, flip flops and a straw hat! You have a green Coleman metal ice chest and your skis are made of wood and come in pairs! It should not be towed by anything newer than a 73 Bronco and the tool box you take should have one handle on the top of the lid.  This is a retro boat, don't try to be a 21st century poker runner, celebrate what it is. As for price just ask the guy who would buy an Austin in a bag for $10k.

I saw this boat on another forum and it looks like the guuy knows what he has and it sounds like he wants alot. If I recall he hasn't stated a price. A former employee of Rogers chimed in and it sounds like this may have been one of Rogers first boats. Whether or not that adds to the value is unknown. In this day in age I don't think that boat would be doable in any of our local lakes or the river w/ all the wake boarding and lake lice. My Rogers is a 19' and has full stringers and sometimes the chop is too bad. I don't even wanna know what a 16' w/ no stringers would be like. That boat would be better off w/ a classic jet boat collector who would restore it and never take it out, or if there was such a thing as a classic jet boat museum ith belongs there. Just my 0.02

My girlfriend's dad used to wash roger's boats at weiman marine in bellflower in the late sixties. He earned $8 a weekend so I doubt this is one of the firsts.
