Hey all- been a while since I posted, does anybody have any info on CP's or who/where I can get some info on them, found one that I am considering, I can't find too much info out about them- thanks in advance-
-
i hear they are fast hulls but im a dummy myself think they are tunnels i know i'll get ripped apart on my .02
-
if i didn't have a daytona i would be looking for a cp :) >:D
-
You guys should see Jim Brocks CP tunnel! That thing is SICK!!!
-
factory502....what cp? the gullwing?
IMO, gullwings are the most saught after hull....those and daytona 19's
what kind of info are you looking for?

These are some of the best boats out there . Still being made in La Habra I think . Bill Scotten is the man. Gullwings and tunnels . There are conflicting stories as to whats what and what came from where. http://www.youngbloodjetboats.com/HISTORY.htmL has some awsome history as well as another bad ass line of boats if CP's are your fancy . I'm unclear as to whether or not The California Performance came from the TX line or not . The fact that they both made gullwings might be the only similarities . Anyone else wanna clear up my ramblings ........

I've read that their race lay up on the tunnel is a really good boat....there is one for sale down south right now without the motor....said it went 115 in the 1/4 they are hard to find....but the texas built one is basicly the same boat.....
-
yeah- After I sold the last barge, I told myself that I was going to wait until the spring to pick something up. The I was toying with the idea of a daytona, but have always had a soft spot for the cals. So I stumbled across a cp gullwing, and am thinking about it, I dig the fact of having a function 4 person boat that still gets after it, and the rarity thing is kind of cool as well. Anyway, was not sure about handling characteristics, week spots thing to look for, stay away from etc etc- thanks for the input, any info is greatly appreciated.

my friend in socal=walnut area has cp/with a 750 hp 454 in it =he brought it up to cfw and i drove it =great boat=only thing he said about it is if you are hauling ass and you lose power ==hard left=
my kid is building a blown 454 for his youngblood=this too ran real well with a built 454 carb motor
-
I have heard those are the race hulls that pull, the really light ones, and thats if your motor lunches.
-
Are there any diffrences between a cp and youngblood. I've got a youngblood and it looks just like my uncles cp. Are they made from the same mold by a diffrent builder
-
Bill Scotten is a good friend of mine. He lives here in Las Vegas, and you can PM me for his info. I will however ask him about his CP molds Vs. the young blood molds, and I will let you guys know what I find out.

That would be a huge help . I've heard lots of conflicting stories as to were the gullwing came from . I thought he was building boats in La Habra CA ???

I am sorry that I have taken so long to reply. Bill is doing very good, and he is building boats here in Vegas. He travels to CA about 4 times a month, and he still builds 6-8 boats a year. I called him today and left a message. When he calls me back I will clear up the YoungBlood question. Bill is a great guy, and he is such an asset when it comes to me building my 07 Aftershock project. I will update you guys soon. Thanks Lock

Not that my opinion matters much but I think he's one of the guys responsable for making our arena of boating what it is .
I assume he's building CP's in vegas as well as out here in so.cal. or no . Glad to hear everything is good .

Bill is a great guy and is very passionate about his boats. He only builds a few a year and if anybody is really interested in one, I can work with Bill to get one built for you.... I have owned numerous gullwings, and an 18 tunnel. The tunnel was very quick but a little spooky on the shutdown.. The 19 gullwing is IMO one of the best river/lake rods out there. Handles great and moves out.. Jason

I have to ask...new hulls....what do they cost? like the CP or the one your going to put out? I really have no idea....just PM me with the answer...thanks....

I spoke with Bill yesterday and he is in Palm Desert. He will be back in Vegas next week, so I will be able to chat with him about the Boat Mold questions. I will update everyone when we chat.

I think I saw some molds for sale on for an 18' gullwing out of OC or LA on Craigslist- same guy/boats???
