This was at one of my customers shops. I think I might be able to afford a Jet boat like this one day...

Why would someone build a ship like that with a jet, as inefficient as a jet is? :screwy:
-
why is it that jets are so bad on fuel or inafficient(spelling) DIRECT DRIVE, NOT TO BIG OF A LOAD ETC??? JUST ASKIN

This one does over 40 mph, and is also over 100 feet long...jet powered

Big boats wanting relatively high speeds have been going to jets for quite a while. None are doing 100+ but when the're matched to turbines do quite nicely. Saw one on Mega Machines 130' and doing 80. NAvy is going with jets on boats designed to stay out of blue water. The NAvy thought 40 knots was fast so anything over that and they are thrilled. Look for the show on the X-craft on the military channel.

it would be pretty badass to see 2 big roosts coming off the back of that thing

Because they are going to run it in the river >:D

This 118' yacht does 70mph with 3 jets (jet powered jet pumps LOL) at 5600hp.

Here's the Navy's latest jet boat
-
what happens if they suck a rock?
-
... or a ski rope?
-
the rooster tail is mud or graded nylon when using the turbines

Top is of a class of ships that are currently in use by the US Navy, and they are jet boats. While they can cruise at about 39 knots, my craft (though not a jet) can smoke that thing and we just barely touch the water..

Ive seen those hovercraft out of Dana Point, things are badass, and loud
