Does anyone have any input on these older Texas Tunnels( good or bad)? I have the opportunity to pick one up for a decent price but haven't pulled the trigger because I don't know enough about them yet. It's a light layup(est. 320lbs). Any info would be appreciated.

Scary unsafe boats and those look like my old rims and tires I was selling. Procomp extreme rims on 35" can't remember what tires I had

just curious what makes the boat unsafe? Is it the potatoe chip hull or the design or both?

Shallow tunnel, they shut down really bad. And 9 times out of 10 if the motor shuts off you WILL go swimming.
I've seen quite a few of my friends go swimming and one lost his life in one.
Please stay away from those boats... And CP tunnels.

I wouldn't go so far as to say stay away... But just keep this in mind... They damn near have the highest crash ratio of any jet boat I can think of. Even a well setup 16 will pitch you out in an instant... Take a bad set... Too quick off the throttle... Little cross wind... Pretty much anything that can upset any other tunnel... It will do it in these, quicker, sooner, and worse. There will be a few guys that will tell you this is all bullshit, and they have/had one and it NEVER did anything weird... And NEVER threw them out... And so on and so forth. Good for them, but the reality is, they were either very lucky, or were not running the boat hard (which is not really necessary to get wet in one as well). They EARNED their reputation and if they were really all that great a piece... They would still be competative in the upper echelons of drag boat racing classes.

Just looking at that sketchy ass booster, wedge, nozzle set up is enough for me to walk. Looks like they literally tried everything to get it to work.
I personally would heed the warnings of the others.
I raced a dude (for fun) that had one of these and I can tell you that I saw the bottom of the boat twice in under 1,000 feet.
The guy said "it hates to go straight and won't turn". Lol whatever that means.

Guys, thank you for the information and most of all the concern for my safety. From what I've read online and your input, I am going to pass on the purchase and continue looking for a CP (gullwing not tunnel). With my new addition to my family, my safety is top priority. No more living on the edge.
Thank again guys

My buddy has a two year old boy. His wife said the Chevelle wasn't practical, he sold out less engine for a zillion dollars and bought a 1967 Chevelle station wagon, it now dons flames, a 540" blown big block, automatic with overdrive, air conditioning and cruise control. It literally does 174mph.
He beat her at her own game.

Where are you located ? I got a line on a sun dancer tx19. Needs resto work as in some stress crack repairs , paint or gel, interior and power. Rather see someone fix it up then it rot away and go to waste. It's not mine though.
