Title: I love my boat!
Post by: Luckie Stiff on May 30, 2008, 03:03:19 PM
Just got back from Lake Ming, took the boat out, sat under a shade tree and dicked with the carb for a bit, found the front float bowl not getting any fuel, one of the jets had sand in it, needle & seat had teflon tape in it, cleaned it all up, set the idle screws, hit the key and wham! fired right up, dumper her in the lake, boat ran 4600 RPM flawlessly for a good 15 minutes, fine tuned the float levels and the air/fuel screws and hit the water again, still topping at 4600 RPM but this time we just cruised for about an hour or so until we ran one of the tanks out of gas, man I LOVE this damn boat! Carb's getting rebuilt next weekend, did I mention I LOVE my boat? O0

Jim Brock is gonna teach me how to rebuild one of these fancy 4 BBLs.  Going to up the jetting as well. Should run like a scalded cat when it's dialed in properly. No Parker for me guys, family obligations that weekend, Prospect, you can launch at Ming all day, come on up, I hear they extended cougar season!

San Antonio is on the July schedule! Flytime is gonna be there for a week, we can invade his rented mobile home and enjoy some A/C after a day on the water.

this isnt about which location is better.....someone already planned a trip the previous weekend...if you spread them out, it doesnt make people have to pick between the two. I personally cant afford to go boatin two weekends back to back, I am sure thats the same for many others here.

Well if someone wants to do the AVI trip, they can do that, if they want to do the San Anton trip, they can do that. I'm not going to the AVI deal, I'm going to San Antonio, if anyone wants to join me they're more than welcome.

I got what you were saying, but there's just too many places to go and not nearly enough weekends to go to them all, it's got to be a choice, sorry sister. Are you coming up for June NJBA drags?

I grew up about 45 minutes from Lake San Antonio. I love that place. Instead of being surrounded by desert you're surrounded with rolling golden hills and oak tree's.

Tom,
We are actually going to be at the South Shore. I was able to convince my wife's family to go to LSAR instead of camping for 5 days in Yosemite in the middle of July :screwy:. There is going to be a shitload of us.(she has a big family). I am counting on you guys bringing up a couple of your hot rods for me to play with ;). Cant wait! By the way.....2 weeks until Parker everybody. Get your shit together.

P.S. Glad you love your boat Skip ;D

been to the AVI, not to san antonio. which one is closer (gas will be a factor) im thinking san anton since i have not been there.

Raplh,
The AVI I think is closer. San Antonio is above Paso Robles off the 101. It takes me 5 hours or so from the OC. Its a great lake for the kind of boats most of us have. Not too big and not too busy. Great place for the family. For me its worth the drive ;D

Long Beach to San Antonio is 264 miles per google maps
Long Beach to AVI is 280 miles per google maps

San Antonio is a great lake, nice and big, but not too busy.
