Kona at Elsinore today
« on: June 05, 2009, 10:26:32 PM »
So after 8 months of working on the Kona, The wife and I finally took it out for a little "lab" work.  We had the lake to ourselves, and the water was like glass.

Aside from a small fuel leak(loose flare nut), leaking packing, and a bilge full of oil (leaking pan plug), the boat looked and ran great!  Found the sweet spot for the diverter, and although the speedo says 30/35, I know we were going at least 37.  Also the op and temp gauge stopped working because they were sitting on the exhaust crossover plate and shorted to ground.  We left after the oil issue.  I thought rear main seal, but it was just the banjo fitting on the pan...it leaked all the way home...what a mess!  All in all built alot of confidence in the boat today, and had some fun.

Lets go!!  We were quarantined at Perris because there was a couple of tiny beads of water in the bilge, that's how we ended up at Elsinore, so i would say any Friday we would own the lake.  I saw another Kona mini-day like ours on the freeway.  It was metallic lime green deck stripe, with wood grained upper deck and a bowrail.  It also has a Jacuzzi.  It was really nice...maybe someone on the board knows this boat.
