so yesterday i started to take the exhaust apart and start looking at shit. I ordered stainless turbo headers off ebay. yes, im making a poor mans through transom header. now after looking at it in the boat it should be fairly easy to do. im gonna get a couple 3.5" U-bends and weld them up to the header. im cutting the collector off and making a new one so it will have a nice smooth transition. it will kinda look like manifold exhaust when done and i think it will work better than my logs.

Soooooooo, now you have the framework to put some hair dryers in that bad  boy.... 

Good idea in more ways than one IMO, but.....How are you going to cool those off? They're gonna run hotter than hell dry (like 400-600 degrees)...

I'd love to run turbos but i dont know shit about them.
im cutting the turbo flanges off, essentially using just the 4 tubes. they will be injected, and the manifold dumps will be right before the rubber hose. hard to explain in typing. im gonna weld in injection bungs and drill some weep holes.

Hmmmm. Interesting idea you have there...

I think if it were me, I would make a flange and go from the flange to the TT...Easier, faster and cheaper, which is how I roll most of the time.

Sounds like a cool project, if it comes out any where near as nice as the boat turned out, it will be awesome...

i want it to look really clean which is why ill be cutting the flanges off. im basically making a whole new merge collector and it should be real clean and smooth

The prices to do the motorwork i want to do is just crazy for the old technology.

Got the 2007 5.3l LS yesterday at the junkyard for cheap. Took most the BS off of it today

the whole motor is very clean. Looked in the cylinders with a borescope and they dont even have carbon on them. It was a low mile wreck.

Looking good....i cant wait to see the performance you get out of it...my question is...is the pan going to clear? Also i used to have that motor in my old truck...sold it with 160k on it and it still ran like a bat outta hell

Do some research and see if the ls2 pan for a gto will fit...they are more shallow....also i believe someone makes a stamped steel pan for ls type engines for the offroad guys...because the cast aluminum well you know

well made front motor plates, used a jigsaw, diegrinder and then used a carbide burr to square it all before i routered the edges. i used 2 different burrs, the one in the pic made a smoother edge for a nice finish. who needs a mill anyways?



this pic makes it look like theyre at different angles but its just an optical illusion


Oh and a note, you can see my scrapped small block header idea on the ground in the last pic.

they say they are stainless but the flanges are chrome cast steel.....F'in china
If i woulda found out before i cut them, i wouldnt have thrown away 120 bucks
