well heres another update.... about a month ago my buddy gave me a tandem trailer. its in very good condition with nice wheels and tires. it was for a 18". well it turns out that the extra length is awesome, although looks a lil weird. i can actually see the boat in the mirrors now.
got it swapped over onto the trailer

the bunks were pretty ill fitting. this pic is when i removed the inner bunks already

muy bien!

i have alot of work to do before april
Color sand/buff
rewire
re-rig
new seating
fab new tanks
put a winch and vblock on trailer
some gel patching including the bilge area
and reset the intake and paint the pump again

had a couple busy weekends.

note the carpet glue and oxidized floors. also note the lack of stainless hardware and numerous broken screws in floor.... some people shouldnt be allowed to own boats. 3 of the motor mount lags snapped

fabricated some tanks, cleaning and sanding the bilge to prep for gel. intake should be here today. got it machined for rideplate and shoe.

havent finished the floors yet.

looks way better now.

this weekend we started making the new seats. still gotta fit a bench up. you can see i glassed a bulkhead in where the bench is gonna sit. still gotta glass another one in, now ill have under seat storage

i also resealed the transom cutout for the jet and the exhaust tips. i also glassed over the old screw holes in the floor. i found out the tan color on the boat is paint and not gel. so i decided to gel and flowcoat black. i should be spraying it next week. i have all week next week to work on the boat (spring break), so ill be getting alot done. target date to be finished is may 1st.

interior is built, bulkhead is ready. today i have everything ready for glass. im glassing all the seams of the interior, glassing in the bulkhead, and glassing in a new panel that goes under the back seat to complete the storage box.

im in the wrong business... holy crap upholstery is rediculous.

i got a bunch of quotes today worst was 2200 and the best was 1400. thats over half of what i paid for my running boat! i managed to get the seats all resined and the bulkhead and seat bases all glassed in. tom ill call ya tomorrow.

The shop is called Champion's phone number is 686-11-88 or if you have nextel 152*172220*1 the owner's name is Enrique Romero, son also is the same name son speaks English. It's only a mile or 2 from the border right near the Plaza Rio shopping center. easy to find and get to. You can haggle a little with them as well.

found a guy in moreno valley to do the interior for a really good price off of craigslist...i hope he does a good job.
started measuring and checking the bottom of the boat. long story short the intake was 3/8'' out of center. a little grinding and fitting, got it centered up. started notching for the rideplate. this took forever. sawzall didnt turn out the way i wanted, so a grinder and beltsander helped to get it right. i painted the motor, and changed the timing cover. pulled the pan and the inside looked great. no metal chunks or shaving. bummed i found out its only a 2 bolt main. the harmonic balancer wasnt looking too good so that got replaced as well.

I havent pulled the heads off to verify, i cant see a seat from the exhaust side of things. i run 91 with a little mix of 109 occasionally

I think the newer heads have "induction hardened" seats, it's not an actual seat. They put a but load of electricty near the surface to be hardened and it gets super hot instantly right in that area then they prolly quench it something. ANYWAY, the older heads didnt have hardened seats and unleaded fuel kinda lets the valves beat the shit outta the seats. Just wondering if anyone hadda problem w/ this.

my heads are old school camel heads. the previous owner said it had the 2.02 valves in it once again i havent verified

My English is horrible. I teach welding. Glassed in the front mounts for the tanks yesterday, then it got too cold for glass work. Got my boat name and CF numbers from moneysucker. They are really nice. Sorry about the wierd pic but I just did all this from my cell.

i worked on it a ton at the river last year, lets just say i learned my lesson. i want to have a trouble free summer this year. i doubt it'll happen but i'm trying to make it nice.
