Title: NEED TO FIX JET PUMP LEAK
Post by: surfrat45 on June 01, 2017, 02:45:32 PM
I took the boat to the launch ramp and it seems to be taking on a lot of water in a very short time, looking for someone close to Elsinore area that's good with chasing down leaks, just don't want to sink it first time out.

Was it leaking while ronning or just floating?

I just had it on the trailer,  5 minutes and took on about 1/2" of water on the left side of the pump, which I'm guessing is a bad seal around the pump, but leaking from the right rear motor mount bolt behind the stringer plate which is higher up than the pump

So...you had it on the trailer.

Where was the trailer? Was the trailer in the lake? Or in your driveway?

I'm trying to figure out if this is a plumbing issue or a hull/hardware issue.

Put the plug in and start filling it with water.

steering cable connections seem to always leak.

If its all dry now, the the hose in the bilge. and see if the intake is leaking.

The transom adapter to the bowl is a good guess too.

thru transom exhaust? possible leaky exhaust hose or 'trumpet' to transom.

On plane or off plane makes a difference, too

Over transom,  never took it off the trailer,  going to try filling it to find the leak on Monday
