I've been busy workin on the boat for the past few weekends. I finally got around to polishing out the intake and valve covers. The prior owner kinda let that stuff go and I was able to bring some shine back. The accelerator cable appeared to be the original and it was damaged so I decided to replace it. While I was at it, I replaced the foot pedal hardware with all stainless. I replaced the carpeting on both fuel tanks. Painted the jet and transom cover. Cleaned up and painted the driveline and got new gold iridite bolts for it. Even after I replaced the starter, I continued have starting issues. I went thru all of the elctrical and wound up replacing many wires. I installed a backup bilge pump and installed a new switch in a hole that was already drilled out next to the switch for the primary bilge pump. I went ahead and got some blue anodized bezels for the 2 bilge pump switches and for the ignition lock cylinder. The bilge pump switches now also have blue anodized knobs that say "pump" on them. This week the jet goes in. Boat should be ready to see water in a couple of weeks as my "to do" list is getting smaller.

That impeller looks like a half A cut half C cut. It wasnt helping you to much there.

When I bought the boat I knew that the jet was bad, I just didn't know how bad. The only thing that could be salvaged was the housing. Everything selse needed to be replaced. It was alot of money, but my Chris Starkweather (my rebuilder) really went out of his way to set me up.

This thing is almost ready to see water. Good thing, because I'm already getting a bit burnt out. The jet is finally 100% Found the rudder in my garage so I decided to install it. The plan was to not install a rudder, but since I found it, it's on. Finally finished up rewiring and repairing the PD switch on the steering wheel. I had the center cap and the piece directly behind the steering wheel hard coat anodized blue. Directly behind than blue piece and just in front of that plastic piece is a metal piece that I tought was aluminum. I polished it for an hour and sent to it to get anodized with no luck. I was told that it was most probably die cast and it could not be anodized. What I did was paint that piece and the plastic piece appliance white which is what I used on the jet. I aslo fully degreased the bilge and installed a second bilge pump. Now I have an automatic @ 750 gph and a manual backup @ 500 gph. All I have left to do is to bolt the seats back in, relocate the shifter and plumb the fuel tanks.

Slow at work today, so I got a chance to work on the boat for a little. Cleaned up the power distribution block and installed all stainless screws. Cleaned up a little more of the wiring  too.

Started changing the h2o hoses. Bought a bunch of this blue Goodyear heater hose that's installed on police cars. Looks pretty cool and should last forever. Wanted to do stinless, but funds won't allow for that.

the blue hose does look great i have it on both my boats.

one item of concern, if you can please get rid of the hose clamps and use a/n fittings on your water lines like you did on the fuel. your boat will fill up really fast if one of those hose clamps fail and you dont see it.

Phase 2 began a few weeks ago. Got a late start because we had a baby in November. Started off by doing a leak down and compression test on the engine. It passed with flying colors so an engine rebuild is no longer in the plans. As far as the motor goes, I'm still gonna go ahead and swap out the 5 1/2 quart oil pan for a 10 quart pan. While I'm down there I'll probably replace the oil pump. I'm also thinking about maybe doing roller rockers and new valve springs. The exhaust logs were cracked at the flanges and way too restrictive so I got a set of Bassett OT headers and they are still at the chromers. When I removed the thru transom tips I discovered that the left tip was installed incorrectly and the wood on the inner part of the transom is in pretty bad shape from the tip leaking water. So instead of installing block off plates, I'm taking the boat down to Havasu on 02/19 to have the transom exhaust holes filled as well as the swimstep holes filled and the entire tansom gelcoated. The swimsteps were in pretty ruff shape and kinda cheap looking. I still haven't decided if I'm gonna put steps back on the boat or not. The boat came with a stereo which I never used even once. So I removed it, the amp, xm module and all associated wiring. While the boat is in Havasu I'll go ahead and have the radio hole in the dash filled in as well. I need to pull the gauges inorder to have the dash repaired so I went ahead and bought a new set of guages and angled bezels to give the boat a bit of a more updated look. Last time I took the boat out, the MSD box took a shit on me and left me stranded. So I went ahead and removed it along with the coil and all the wiring and I bought an HEI distributor.
