Title: new boat owner, '69 16' Tahiti
Post by: SSpeeDEMONSS on July 11, 2015, 03:40:06 PM
Just picked this up yesterday. 1969 16' Tahiti. mildly built 461 olds. I have a list of things done to it but no exact specs. Cleaned her up today and made a list of things to do to get her on the water in the next week or two. Also need to shorten the trailer as it had 2 seadoo mounts on the front of the trailer. 26' is a little long for a 16' boat.

Gonna have to shorten ir alot more than that. Your gonna want the ball to sit about 2-3 feet away fron the nose of the boat.

it is 20' overall length as i have it now. I left enough room to put a box on the front of the trailer for whatever i might want to keep with the boat. I just need to mitre cut the side rails and bend them in to attach to the center bar. Should be done by tomorrow.

It had a twin sea doo rack on the front of the trailer. the info says it was custom made in 1994 by Trail-Rite trailer.

yup. I take it you've seen the boat out front.

That's correct, I'm off of Monogram and Centralia. What happened to the other boat you had in driveway?

the 18' Bahner is getting the engine rebuilt with some slight upgrades. it lost a lifter the sunday before 4th of july and killed the cam. the plan is to have her back together this week/weekend and take them both to elsinore this sunday.

Picked up a new pump since the old one was trashed. Thought i had a 12jg but after looking again today I have a 12jb. New pump is a 12jg though. Going to Place tomorrow to discuss options then going to call B1 on a friend's suggestion to see what he says. Hope to have her back together in the next 2 weeks.

Thinking of tossing some paint on the jet while it's out, any recommendations on something simple that will hold up for a few trips?

Appliance white epoxy is what I use. Works great. Holds up pretty well.

Purple is a great idea I think. Gives great contrast to the rest of the boat.

Not the best color match but I think this dark purple will look good on the pump.
