Welcome to SCJB  ;D

You did good going with a Southwind.  Now the Olds on the other hand  :screwy:

Run it and have fun.

Have you had it out yet?  Post when/where you are going and you will likely find another SCJB member in the area.

Thats what everyone is telling me about the Southwind. As far as the Olds, I didnt want it, but oh well.... Ill run it this season. I havent had it out yet. Trying to take care of the technicalities... Ill for sure let yall know when and where I go. I know we are going to the river for labor day weekend. Maybe Ill be able to meet some of you guys.

You need to get it out a few times before attempting a holiday weekend.

Jet boats don't react like any other boat and you will want to get to know how it runs before getting into a busy situation.

I'm sure you understand that a jet boat doesn't turn without giving it throttle.... it needs to be instinct to hit the gas when your mind is telling you to lift.  8)

Looking forward to seeing it on the water

Thanks guys.. Although this is MY first jet boat, I have driven all my friends and have been around them for a while. I appreciate the input though.

On another note, I have the motor out of the boat right now and want to put a cam and lifter set in it. Anyone have any suggestions on what make, model #, size to put in a stock 455 olds?

Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

Cheers!

I ran this last winter in my olds and loved it. It's a Schneider Jet Boat Cam. RPM band 2500-6000 (stock olds may push 4800) Lift is .480 both sides, duration @.50 int 222 exh. 230 and lobe sep is 112. Check it out.

I just swapped that olds out for a chev. Chevy definitely made more rpm's and is not so tempermental with water pressures and cylinder heads overheating. Chevy build was a total of $3500 I think, that included the mounts and everything else I needed to swap. Just depends on how radical you want to go.
