Thought I was going to take it out soon, but fired it up today and I look in the back of the hull and it was full of water,WTF it pop out a freeze plug, might as well pull the bitch out and replace them all,BTW it would not hold an idle less them 2000 rpm's first thing came to mined was air leak any help??
Thanks Boost

Just because it popped out a freeze plug doesn't mean they all need to get replaced, it may have just been doing its job. What condition is the frezze plug in that popped out?
First thing that came to my mind was a dirty carb. Check the timing, 34 - 36 total. If those are good I'd look for an air leak, spray something around the intake and carb.
-
you blew out a freeze plug? I think I'd check the compression to see if you have a blown head gasket....just to be sure....better safe than sorry
-
a little berrymans sprayed around the intake and carbs will tell you if you have a leak....

sorry; let me rephrase that, a hole popped through the center of the freeze plug. Previously, it happened to the original owner but on the opposite side of the motor. Might as well replace all the plugs at the same time to avoid ruining my next boat trip.

Make sure you use brass freeze plugs ment for a boat.

21's can be hotrods too. I've got one and It's put the hurt on a few of those "little" hotrods. Just takes a few more dollars.

pm sent. Is 5/8 -6 or -8?
-
Just saw this thread. Nice boat... That belonged to my friend Steve Keller.
-
5/8'S is like -10
-6= 3/8
-8= 1/2
-10= 5/8
-12 =3/4
i think...

AN Fittings
"AN" (Army Navy) Sizes were established by the aerospace industry. The
measurements represent the O.D. (outside diameter) of rigid metal tubes.
Basically, dash sizes are the numerators of fractions with a denominator
of 16.
EXAMPLE:
-6 is equal to 6/16 in. which is equal to 3/8 in.
-8 is equal to 8/16 in. which is equal to 1/2 in.
In the examples above, a -6 AN fitting would work with a pipe that has a
3/8 in. O.D. A -8 AN fitting would be used with 1/2 in. O.D. pipe.
Here's a simple chart, just in case you don't want to do the math.
-02 AN is equal to 1/8 in.
-03 AN is equal to 3/16 in.
-04 AN is equal to 1/4 in.
-05 AN is equal to 5/16 in.
-06 AN is equal to 3/8 in.
-08 AN is equal to 1/2 in.
-10 AN is equal to 5/8 in.
-12 AN is equal to 3/4 in.
-14 AN is equal to 7/8 in.
-16 AN is equal to 1 in.
-20 AN is equal to 1 1/4 in.
-24 AN is equal to 1 1/2 in.
-32 AN is equal to 2 in.
The most commonly used fittings are adapters. These adapters connect an AN
fitting to a pipe thread fitting. Most fuel pumps, regulators, and
canister type fuel filters, come with pipe thread inlet/outlet ports. In
order to use braided line, the ports need to be changed to a AN type of
fitting. This is when a "pipe to AN adapter" is needed.

Hey boost- what kind of pump do you have in your boat???
-
Hey boost- what kind of pump do you have in your boat???
Its got a jacuzzi wj with a energizer kit and diverter took it out this weekend for some test runs it's pushing 70 mph I think thats all ill get, with that pump.
-
Pushing 70 is not bad at all, my Hondo with WJ (no energizer) and a worn out 454 will only make 60 with just me in it.
-
This black gullwing has a Jacuzzi in it and it was doing 109 mph, not sure if it was a WJ or a YJ though.

I'm with the other guys, avoid the beach at all costs...........
-
I had a long talk with Roger Finney about the Jacuzzi pumps....he worked for them for many years....I believe he used to be a sales rep.
He really believes in the race prep'd jacuzzi pumps.....the factory mass produced jacuzzi's were garbage and couldn't stand up against a Berkeley....but they had blueprints for the race setups that they had hand machined that would out perform any Berkeley....and the sad part is that per pump cost..it was less to machine the race pump then it cost to put one through the assembly line.
The question I never did ask him is why he's running a Berk now. >:D

Thanks for the info guys, how much mph do you think i will get by changing out my jacuzzi to a berk, besides a hole lot of money.

Boat looks good.... When are you going to change your back ground..lol

I forgot all about it its your boat now.

Boost the WJ is a good pump, with the Energizer on there you get rid of the biggest problem with a jacuzzi-the bowl. The impeller is next and they can be made to work real well. My WJ pushed my last boat into the mid 90's first time out with no setup, same as a berk has done in similar boats. No doubt in my mind that the boat would have done 100 with a little tweaking and some cleaner water(super choppy out-couldn't stay in it too long). Unfortunately after the first time out my wife shook her head at me and told me we needed a bigger boat.
Get your impeller detailed by Jack @ MPD and add the shoe & ride plate. A bowl detailing will help to, but I would do that after the shoe-ride plate and impeller. You wouldn't notice any difference with the berk IMO.
-
Here is the WJ Brendella Is talking about. I own it now and will take on all Berk's that want to run.
