About to buy my first boat, wondered if I could pick your experienced brains a little. The boat imam getting is a 19ft, 1978 Crusader jet boat. Has a Ford 460 in it, and Berkeley jet. I'm picking it up for $3000. Anyone know much about these boats, and if it is a good deal. Attached is a picture of it.

Check everything fairy close.
Get under it and look into the intake of the pump to at least get a rough idea of the condition of the impeller, what you will be looking at is the leading edge of the impeller. Look for damaged blades debris and just a general peek.
Listen to it run, or better yet, pay the dude to take you to the lake and drive it. Money well spent imho.
Lift the seat cushions and inspect the wood in the seats.
Check the keel for beaching damage and look for hull repairs.
Go over the trailer and look for cracks and repairs.
It would be though for you to get hurt buying a $3000 ruining boat.

BTW, the Ford/Berkeley combo is tough to beat.

Look under the dash at the wiring and make sure all the gauges work. If you can, lift up the whole interior to check the sub floor condition. Check the stringers too. That with the previous post and If everything checks out I say get it and ditch the bow rail. Goodluck.
