Just registerd today and thought I'd check in to say hi. Last month, at the age of 36 I purchased my first boat. I've been looking at boats off and on for 7 or 8 years but never was serious enough to buy one. I finally found the perfect boat and I decided to pull the trigger. It's a 1978 Rogers 19 ft. with a very patriotic color scheme and it is in really good condition. It has that classic jet boat look that I admire so much. It has the original gel and interior. At some point it was updated with a sound system and hydraulic place diverter. The BBC was rebuilt a few years ago and runs strong. I don't like Demon carburetors, so one of the first things I did was to install a Holley 750 on it. The old Morse steering cable was siezed so I replaced it with a TeleFlex unit. I also had to do a ton of work on the trailer and I'll be done painting it as soon as the weather improves. The Berkeley jet was damaged by the previous owner, so I will be having that repaired as soon as funds are available. I restore classic cars for as a hobby[attachimg=#](http://), so I am mechanically inclined. However, I'm no boat expert but I luckily have friends who know their stuff that have been helping me alot. I've learned a ton in the past few weeks already. I've been reading the forums here and it looks like there is a vast amount of 411 on this site. Hopefully my pic posts.

Thanks. Unfortunately I don't know much about the history or her prior owners. The guy I bought it from only had the boat for 3 years and used it twice before he screwed up the jet. He wasn't very talkative. The boat came from Lake Havasu and it appears that it was originally registered in Arizona. Oddly enough, the trailer has a California plate. The prior owner purchased the boat form a store in Havasu. I called them the other day and they acknowledged the boat came from there. The gal told me that they got it as a trade-in but she would not tell me who they got it from. I have no idea how many prior owners there are. I've been doing some research on Rogers Custom Boats but I have not been able to find much. I'll post more pics in a while.

Thanks so much for posting the image of the brochure. I'm gonna try and enlarge it a bit and then and then print it out. Until yesterday, I had only found 2 b/w images of Rogers boats in action. One of them was called "Gucamole" I assume it was green. Can you post some pics of your Bonneville? I'd like to see it.

The guy I bought it from told me that he sucked something up into the jet and it started making a loud noise. He got an estimate for the repair and decided to park it. I believe him on this. The trailer and boat registration both expired in '07 (the same year he bought it) When I got the boat home, I started it and verified that the jet makes noise. A friend and I partially took the jet apart and we found a baseball cap in it. We think that he continued to drive the boat with the baseball cap in there as opposed to shutting it down and getting a tow.

If it was just the cap in there, yeah, the whole boat would shake and shimmy like a mofo. Did it many times with rocks in the impeller. I really cant see the cap completely ruining the pump, though, unless he ran it a LOT ..........personally, I'd drop it in the lake and see what it does WITHOUT the baseball cap in it....... :thumbup: :thumbup: These pumps have been running well for over 40 years sucking up you name it. I've personally seen diapers, ski ropes, sunglasses, and I think in was Ralph I heard processed a duck through one. The things are pretty damn resilient.
Brad and I kinda jacked up a rock grate and inducer on a wet bike that had problems on a beach once. Took a 3' prybar I carry in my boat to get the rock out, but the guy was happy as hell! Thing ran fine.
Anyways, welcome! 76Bonneville is you're go to guy on Rogers as you've figured out......I'm kinda curious how you managed to find and buy one without Ron beating you to it though.......

I agree with Ray, find someplace close, drop it in and run it.
