I am going to be selling a 1972 18' Rogers modified V hull Berkley pump with an Olds for a friend of mine. This boat is all original and is a one owner boat. I am going to need some help on what you guys think this boat is worth. I will try to get pictures up later today along with more info. Thanks in advance for the help.

Bob, whats it got for power?
-
I was told Olds 440. ???. I'm no motor guys but I dont remember Olds making a 440. Ralph said it must be a 442. Did the 442 put out 400hp?
-
As I recall in 71 the 455 olds put out 410 hp, in 72 it dropped to 390 hp. I had a 71 in my 16' Tahiti and my uncle had a 72 or 73 olds in his Rogers.
-
The 442 was a model of a car, not a model of an engine.
-
i dunno bob, sorry :banghead:

The very rare W-30 might have been close to that, but most were closer to 350 hp
-
Olds had a 425 then changed to 455 in 1968 ;)
-
The highest factory rating I believe that Olds published was 390, but like all the other manufactures of the time, that was probably a little short of what it really was. Mine is a 71 model with G heads. In stock form, for the cars, I believe that Olds says that it had 360. However, it is a Hardin rigged motor. Maybe some of the experts could let us know what all Hardin and the others did to these motors. Did they they put different cams etc in them???
-
Hopefully I will have pics up later tonite :banghead:. I am going to try to get this boat to my house this weekend and really check this thing out. Should know more then.
-
Finally got some pictures. Just found out today that its an Olds 455. Fresh rebiuld, less than 10 hours. I am hopefully going to talk to his mechanic(sp) to find out what was done. Mods etc.. Gel coat and interior are all original. This boat has been VERY well maintained. Start the offers gents.

Sweet Rogers!
Only a year newer than the Raspberry, but it has the newer bottom and I believe the rear deck is flat. With that in mind I'll bid 1500.00 (dont tell my wife she thinks 4 boats are enough).
$50.55

The time of the year is right, or at least close to it. The country is in a recession (sp?) so ??? I'm guessing it's worth around $3,500 - $4,500

whats the name on the back? fire fly?
its not the same bottom as the rasberry even though its 1 year difference....i thought that bottom didnt start until '73
very cool lookin boat...i'd say rod's range is about right....it all depends on if the guy is desperate to sell it or not....im sure he could get 4500 if he wants to wait for the right buyer that knows its value and will keep it original....or he can sell it for 3500 quickly to some idiot that will paint flames on it.

Fire Fly is correct. You win the new toaster ;D. Hopefully it will bring close to 4k.
-
4k would be a fair price. To bad theres nobody in the family that wants it. Seams to me the sentimental value would be priceless after being in the family for 36 years. :'(
-
Went up on Craigs list today. Lets get this thing sold. ;D

No he did not. The mechanic that has worked on this boat forever bought it. I called him to ask him some questions about the motor and he showed a little interest. Next thing I know he makes an offer and SOLD!!!
What did it sell for?
$4000.00. He's picking it up Monday/Tuesday.I glad someone who knows the history of the boat got it. Thats a fair price. Good job Bob
