I am available if someone wants to know anything about the engine. It is a "race" engine, extremely low hours (assembled and installed just before the Parker race last year), high compression 468 with new Eagle H beam rods, 4 bolt block, brand new aluminum heads, solid roller cam. I drove the boat one time during engine break in, it's stout!

The engine was build with the goal of setting the boat to run in the 6200-6300 range

My other Comp Jet racer that I build for uses "fun tickets" as well. He had more of them available, we made an honest 800 dyno horsepower out of his single carb engine that has not gone into a boat yet.
I don't claim to be super knowledgeable about jet boats, but have built several different Comp Jet engines, each a different combination. My understanding is that pumps work well in this type boat until about 6200 or so, and I don't see that as a problem for a well built 4" stroke engine.
I hear you on the rules stuff, hope not too many people get all negative and quit racing with the capsule rules that got voted into effect for several of the other classes.

So far, and I've spoken to some of the other compjet guys... No serious rule changes.

I was one of the 4 that showed up for the meeting.
No rule changes this year, but need to be thinking of proposals for next year.
Need to at the very least maintain speeds.
Don't want to reduce the cubic inch rule if we don't have to. Some of us have a bit of an investment there.
Perhaps restrictor plates or rev limiters?
Just need to start thinking of options.

I don't mean to turn this classifieds ad into a discussion, but speeds are not the issue in compjet when talking about safety. I have yet to hear of an incident that could have been prevented if the speeds were slower. It's like Obama putting gun laws into place that wouldn't have stopped any of the previous mass shootings.
Yeah, the class's numbers are down, but its not because anyone is dominating either. Shirl isnt the fastest guy out there - we all know its CJ123. But Shirl is more consistent than Jack's boat. But yet, Shirl has landed US1 several times now.
As you all know, the CJ888 is on its way to coming back to life. I do plan on doing something a little unconventional as far as promoting the class when I get back behind the wheel. It will give a chance to let people get their hands wet and be involved in the class. Personally, it was never about winning for me. It was about the overall experience. Even if I was dead last, I still had a blast. Like how it was in the NJ days. I want to bring that back and get more people involved to experience that comradery we once had in the class.
A rule I would like to see made is something that disqualifies the 702 boat. Sorry if this upsets anyone, like the 702 crew, but that boat just is not meant to be racing against the rest of the class. Its a safety issue, nothing personal. I don't agree with that boat and I know a majority of the class feels the same way.
